I bought the carseat...loved it at first...easy to install...But the Handle kept locking and sticking after about 2 weeks..So I called the company and had the whole carseat replaced...(FYI: They will NOT exchange anything w/out a valid receipt...they will NOT take your credit card receipt.) I got the new one immediatly..The handle was fine..about 3 weeks later..the handle started sticking and locking on me!..I asked another parent at my child's school what she thought about the seat when I saw her carrying a similiar Baby Trend seat...She said hers was defective..the handle got stuck on hers too!..BEWARE!! DO NOT BUY!!...I am already searching for another infant carrier...This was my 3rd child and I had used GRACO before this and NEVER had any problems w/ their seats... ALSO: I washed the seat once and the material started to fall apart..:(..The straps easily get twisted...
Number one Rated....... Yeah Right!!!!

This prooduct is anything but #1. This car seat is way over priced for the product. I agree with the other reviewers that the handle release is not user friendly. You almost have to have a gorilla grip to get it to go up or down. The straps will not tighten enough to keep my son in the car seat in a more snug position, which I feel is a huge safety issue. The mechanism to latch the harness has to be put together like a puzzle before you can insert it into the lock. The straps for this car seat get twisted with even the slightest movement, i.e. just fumbling for it in between baby's legs & car seat to get it out, it gets tangled. Please, save yourself and buy Graco. I was given a 3 year old hand me down Graco car seat that works way better than the Baby Trend Flex Loc car seat. Try it out first on the display at Babies R Us, and you will see what I mean.
HORRIBLE!!

I hate this thing. The latch wont go together my husband works it just fine along with a few other men but it takes me all my strength and a lot of maneuvering and wiggling to get it done and all his aunts and grandmas have tried but can't do it or have as much difficulty as me. The covering on it wont stay on the handle moves back but its difficult most times I don't do it. At 20 pounds be prepared to switch and if you have a boy anywhere near the 50th percentile that's well before a year so really you might as well get a convertible car seat to start out. I wish I would have got a graco his cousin has it and my sister inlaw loves it. Its so easy to use it ridiculous the difference. I got the stroller too and love it get the stroller but get a different car seat.
AWFUL!!!!!!!!!

I read some bad reviews for this carseat previous to registering for this car seat but I just thought that it was a fluke. Let me tell you...this seat is BAD! Not only is it heavy, but the seat is smaller than others and the handles are difficult to use. The buttons get stuck and the bar will not go back. I called the company who sent a replacement shell for the seat, but it is doing the same thing now and the replacement was different. I wish I believed the reviews about the handle, the weight, and the tangled straps. It all came true and I wasted [$] Pay more for a better model. I have a 6 month old that I have to move to a bigger seat because at 19 lbs he is too big.
Scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 5

Pros:
1) Lightweight - mine is 9.65 lbs which is the main reason my husband and I bought it. (I believe this web site has the weight advertised incorrectly at 20+ lbs, unless maybe factoring in the base with that. Check the BabyTrend web site and/or weigh it.)
2) It is reasonably priced.
3) It's black so no worries about showing dirt, etc.
4) The triangle grip/handle on the carry release bar allows for different carrying positions.
5) The BabyTrend car seat carrier/fold-up stroller that goes with it is Good!
Cons:
1) It's HOT - the pseudo-brushed-suede-looking cloth fabric combined with the fact that it's black makes it get hot easily and very uncomfortable for baby in warm weather. My baby's back can get sweaty within a couple minutes on a warm day or sitting in it in the car, even when the A/C is on full-blast.
2) Buttons STICK - buttons on the side for the carrier release bar are difficult to press at times and get stuck half the time which is a REAL PAIN and my #1 complaint. We've tried spraying just a little WD-40 in and around the buttons which has helped slightly with this but not good enough.
Its okay!!!

i got this car seat because i matched the sit and stand stroller i got and so far the car seat has been alright its black so i dont have to worry about it getting dirty and i like the design and the blanket cover, but it is hard to adjust and just plain confusing. i would have to say that the worst feature would have to be the way it snaps together i have never seen anything so stupid i have to sit there and hold the 2 clips together and try to snap them into place while my son is screaming it never fails to wake him up. i wouldn't recommend it way to confusing and annoying. i had a graco for my other son last year and it was much better.
Heavy and difficult to use

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Loc Car Seat Jet:
We're very unhappy with this seat. First, it's difficult to get our son in and out. He seems uncomfortable and wedged in.
Second, the carry bar is difficult to get up and down; I have trouble getting the buttons on both sides to release, much less to do so at the same time!
And it's heavy, just over 20 pounds which you do not want with a new baby.
Perhaps most importantly - it's SMALL - only rated up to 22 pounds. He's two months (but big) and we just bought a convertible seat.
The shoulder straps are easy to adjust, but the one at the crotch is kind of tricky.
Finally -- black is a terrible color for a car seat, it gets very hot in the sun, especially if you leave it in the car.
I recommend getting a convertible at the beginning, you're going to have to get one when baby outgrows the newborn seat anyway and most are fine for newborns. They're not so good for carrying the baby around, but it will last much longer. We just got a Britax Boulevard, 3 times the price, but much easier, more comfortable, and good to 65 lbs!
Hated it!

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Loc Car Seat Jet:
I hated it from the minute I tried to install it. First of all, it is hard to install it. Secondly, the handle is hard to adjust (move up and down) because the buttons are so hard to push. Third, the straps are too short. My son is 4 months old and has outgrown it already. If I would have spent more money I could have bought one that lasted me for at least a year. Lastly, it is way to heavy. DO NOT PURCHASE unless you want to be constantly frustrated!
Decent Car Seat at a Decent Price

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Loc Car Seat Jet:
I read so many reviews on so many car seats that in the end I really couldn't make a decision or find exactly what I was looking for - so I settled on this one.
Overall it's been a decent car seat for a decent price. I purchased for my newborn and my baby is now almost 4 months old and still using it. He was born rather small (barely 6 pds) so it was a tad large at first, but has rapidly grown to over 15 pds - and it still fits him perfectly.
I can't say it's exactly light weight, but it isn't heavier than any of the other car seats I tried - and this was important as I am a single mom of two.
My biggest complaint is the seat belt - the release can be difficult...and i found myself struggling with it which is no fun with a screaming baby.
good seat

This is a good seat. Few problems, the handle is hard to put down, if your car doesnt have the latch system you cannot install the base in your car, after 5mths of using it the fabric started to rip. Like all carriers this is a heavy seat.
