Some benefits and drawbacks

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
The assembly really wasn't that bad. You just really need to follow the instructions step-by-step. Don't try to jump ahead or figure it out by yourself, or else you'll get frustrated. I like the height of the bassinet since it aligns great with our bed. The main drawback is that the mattress is extremely hard, like a piece of plywood or something. I have tried to pad it with blankets under the sheet, but baby still doesn't like it too much. Unless she is in a very deep sleep, she will fuss. If I was to do it again, I'd get a more comfortable bassinet.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
Our 2nd child is 2 weeks away from being here, and I recieved this at my babyshower. My sister was apprehensive about buying it after reading the reviews, but I was stuck on it. The design is BEAUTIFUL!!! And to me, it was easy to assemble. As with everything, I read the instructions. And it is about as stable as you are going to get for a portable play yard! We don't play on useing it for travel, so it's perfect for us. The only thing I did wrong was put the changing table cover on upside down. But that was easy to fix. But I put it together by myself, 8 months pregnant, within an hour with breaks for bedtime for our first and visiting with a couple neighbors. I HIGHLY recommend this!!

Cute but hard to put up

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I got the whole Gabriella collection! I used the changing table when my daughter was a new born, after about a month I realized it was a little low for my back and it hurt my back so we used the changing table we already had, but it was great for grandma being shorter than my 5' 8" self. I never used the bassinet we couldn't fit it in our room next to our bed, now we added some blankets underneath it and on top of it and my 10 month old uses it as her own little seat, we got the idea from a friend that also has the same playpen. Putting up the playpen is a pain! You have to pull up really hard on the arms to get it to snap together and stay put, I hurt my back once doing it, and putting it down is even more of a pain because of the elbow joints! Other than that my daughter loves to play in it, and sleeps in it when we travel, we have taken it many times to the beach with us for over night trips. It is very cute also, I haven't had to wash it yet so lets hope that isn't too hard.

We've used this from the day we brought her home from the hospital. She loves it and it was so convenient to have her right next to me in those early weeks. She loves the music and since we're a military family, we use the recording option whenever Daddy's away! Packs up easy too, for this mommy on the go.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
This play yard is very cute...that's why I purchased it! Did not consider the changing table is very uncomfortable for the baby it does not lay flat so you have to put something to level the baby!!!The newborn napper is not so practicle, can not put it anywhere except the floor because of the base legs it messes up your bed and too big for a table.Overall I would advice you to think about those things. I didn't have the experience at the time and would have loved someone to bring those points up to my attention befor I spend [$] on it.

I wanted this product to use as a cosleeper. It was so hard to put together. I called product services and they just kept repeating the same sentence over and over about how to put this nightmare together. I strongly recommend that Baby Center work on their service center and instruction manual. It was NOT user friendly.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
Loved the design. used it as a bassinet. She slept in the cosleeper alot when she was first born. It is quite bulky, not really travel friendly if u talk the cosleeper but without its just great. bassinet is a little unsturdy but it was never a problem with our little one. Now we use it when we go to grandmas house. Wish you could use the changer and co sleeper at the same time but it wasn't to big of a deal. overall good purchase. quite hard to assemble the top.

I loved this Playard.. My newborn did not like to sleep in the bassinet we had got her so we tried this Gabriella Playard with the bed side bassinet and she loved it! I love that the bassinet is high enough for me just to reach over and grab her instead of having to reach all the way down into her other bassinet. Also all the pockets are helpful it lets me be organized and makes things a lot easier for the late night changing.

I travel a lot and figured i would need an item like this for overnight stays in hotels. This thing does take quite a long time to assemble with all of the parts. I can't imagine traveling with this heavy and time consuming thing. It also takes just as long to break down as it is to set it up. Not convenient at all. I might be able to use it as a playpen when the baby gets a little older. I don't have a use for the side sleeper because we have a bassinet. i could see how someone without a crib would love something like this, but for me, it's a useless waste of space and money. cute, but not travel friendly.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
We registered for the Gabriella playard mainly for the bassinet. The playard is next to our bed and our 1 month old baby has slept soundly in it every night since she has been home. I like that the bassinet is tall enough so that it is literally right next to our bed. The only con is that the set up for this was a nightmare and the batteries for the light, music and vibration ran out super fast. But we loved this product and it's super cute.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
We have been using ours for 2 months now and our daughter sleeps well in it. It was easy to put up as long as you snap the sides in place before pushing the bottom down, which it clearly says in the instructions. I think the mattress is hard, but it doesn't bother our baby as she sleeps 6 or 7 hrs at a time in it. It came with a wrong sized pole for the co-sleeper, but called the manufacturer and received a new piece in a couple of days. I use a waterproof pad under travel yard sheets to protect the mattress.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
Be carefull when you first open it. Don't do what I did and get too excited and try doing it without reading the instructions. I was almost in tears when I took a deep breath and CAREFULLY read the instructions. It took a lot of patience, because I do not like putting things together anyways, but I got it eventually. I like the music box. The heart button allows you to listen to your ipod as long as you have the aux in/out cord [...] and it plugs my ipod into my car and truck too! You will also need to buy a couple little bassinet sized waterproof mattress savers and a couple little sheets. I think you need the ones that measure 17x26 or something close to that. I needed my husband to snap the diaper/wipes holder bag to the side because the snaps were too tight to push together for me. The cosleeper part must come off to use the changer that flips up and over onto the playard itself (why you need to snap the bag on the side). Other than that I think that's it! I can't wait to see how Kylee likes it. I hope she does, because mommy does. I haven't slept in it yet either so I don't know if it's comfortable.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I have used it for about 3 months now and I am lovin' it!!! I put a few blankets dow for cushioning...after all this is a play pen...not a bed! I also put a blaket down to guard against spit up and anything else yuckie a newborn can dish out! This was a breeze to assemble...I did it 8.5 months pregnant. Baby is comfy in her own little space and I am happy because she is not that far from me. The only thing I don't like is that I can't use the changer while in co-sleeper mode, but we took the co sleeper off this weekend and everything works as it should. Once again, I put a thin blanket between baby's bottom and changer...just in case. It is easier to wash a blanket then to take the whole thing apart :)

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I got this from my girlfriend as a shower gift. Was very happy when i received it but little did i know that, i was in for a big disappointment surprise when i was ready to use it. It's very appealing when u see it at the store or online but dont be fooled. The setup is very difficult. The mattress is very awful. My daughter was only 3months old when i started using it.Even with her tiny weight, i still had to place paper cardboards under the mattress for more support because that mattress is soo useless. It's a folding mattress which cann't really support the baby that well. I had to and still keep rotating the mattress. It kinda bends at the folding points.I have not used it yet as playpen so i dont know what the outcome might be. It's very spacious and beautiful but its utilization quality is useless. I must mention that, the music is very loud but u can always control it.

The bassinette is uncomfortable, but as far as those saying assembly is difficult, if they would read the instructions, they would see that there are specific steps you have to take to get it to open up. (Snap together ends first, before anything, and THEN snap bottom in place and sides.)

Not only was it hard to assemble, but the music player was too loud, the changing table was useless, and the pad is made of cloth (which you cannot remove to wash). Whoever designed this piece of crud should be fired! It was cute, but that's about it. Do not waste the money!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

05/04/2010 by ProudMommyof1, Los Angeles,CA

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
Do yourself a favor, and do not waste your money purchasing this! For the money spent, we expected more out of this product. The first problem we encountered is the play yard itself is IMPOSSIBLE to put up. The frame is supposed to snap into place, and every time we try, it just collapses back in on itself. Part of the problem is the fabric covering the frame is not long enough nor "stretchy" enough to cover it once it is opened. My husband was FINALLY able to get it up (after literally TWO HOURS of cursing, kicking, and throwing the thing around, and slicing the fabric along the top where the bars should snap into place), and then my newborn daughter wouldn't even sleep in the bassinette because it is hard, uncomfortable, and does not have much depth to it. Every time I would put her in it, she would wake up within 10-15 min, crying. (We bought another bassinette for a fifth of the price, and it was MUCH more effective - she could sleep for hours in it.) We figured we would set the actual play yard part aside for when she got a little older. Well, the sitter unknowingly closed the thing up to move it to the next room, and now we are in the same position we were in in the first place - we cannot get it to snap back into place. The bottom line is, when you spend this amount of money for a product, you expect it to work! We shouldn't be having this much trouble getting the product assembled, and we shouldn't have to worry about closing it up for fear of not getting it back up again. Upon inquring about returning the product, I learned that there is only a 6 month warranty on the product, EVEN for product defects. So, I think I'll let my husband take a baseball bat to the thing seeing how it has caused him such frustration and anger. (Joking, of course...lol) I will NEVER buy a Baby Trend product again EVER, and I am instructing my friends to do the same.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
My husband put this product together in about 40 minutes and had no problems whatsoever! It is beautiful and functional, we will get a lot of use out of this. I know a lot of people complained about the mattress, but it IS a playard, they aren't usually soft and even regular bassinets don't ever have much cushioning. I will agree with the embroidery on the mattress though, and we will be buying a playard sheet to cover it for spills or accidents, also. I also don't believe that this was at all pricey, since it is technically 4 products in one.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I have a schedule C-ssection in 9 days and I tried to put the playpen. I was so mad and I thought I was going to broke it, so I gave up. Tried it the next day and I was still mad. Then my son got it to put it almost up and I thought maybe I will try it. All be it was so easy. So the trick it get it up, is to have the middle all the way up and put up the ends then the sides. I know a lot of people has had problems putting up, so I thought giving everyone the tip will help. Belive I was so mad and about ready to take it back. I think I will enjoy it now. Hope this helps everyone and good luck.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I purchased this playard because it is pretty and has the newborn bassinet and changing station. I should have done some research because I have several issues with it and was extremely disappointed. Here are the issues:

1. It was hard to put together and when it was finally up, my husband could not get it to collapse for travel purposes

2. When the basinet is on, you can't use the changing station.

3. The pad for the bassinet and playard is hard. I have to line it with a soft blanket so that my daugher will be comfortable.

My advise is to not be fooled by the pretty pattern.

overall a good buy

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
We got this not only because it was a great pack and play, but also because the bassinet portion was more of a "co-sleeper" than many of the other pack and plays out there. I assembled it myself, and it was pretty easy - took about an hour all total, but I am sure once I take it down a few times it will get much faster.
The mattress is fairly firm, but not horrible. I will likely find a bassinet sheet or something to cover the mattress with since the pad itself isn't washable, but would do that with any other mattress that I would purchase.
The only thing that prevents this from being 5-stars is the volume control. For me, the music and sounds were either way too loud or non existenet. I don't think that I would use any of them to soothe the baby because they are just too loud. I may end up connecting an MP3 player to it to see if that helps with the volume levels. The vibration is nice and the nightlight is handy.
Overall a great product that I am excited to be able to get to use.

I assemble it by myself while pregnant, easy to take baby from at night, very useful, this co-sleeper will help till 5 months + if you can't afford taking the lifetime crib of your dream yet... Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
Our baby is due in a few weeks and we are looking forward to getting a lot of use out of this item.

It was VERY difficult finding the right playard for a baby girl that has the features this one does.

I read all of the prior reviews and even though I was skeptical I am glad I continued to move forward.

Assembly:
I was able to put it together myself in about an hour, which I consider good time based on my track record of assembling items.

Volume Control:
I agree with the reviews regarding volume control on the built-in tunes -they are either too loud or too soft, but we plan to use an iPod anyways, which works PERFECTLY fine (volume and all).

Mattress Pad:
Because the pad is rather thin and hard and cannot be cleaned (not sure why they would design it like that...these are babies after all!), I registered for the Summer waterproof playard pad which is a perfect fit. It even folds in half so can also be used as the bassinet mattress.

Love everything about it! Had none of the probs in all the previous reviews...it exceeded my expectations and more. The picture doesn't do it justice. It vibrates, has a night light, has music, lets you program your voice and didn't know it til I got it but you can even hook you ipod/mp3 up to it...can't say enough good about it, so happy I chose this one! I didn't think the mattress was any harder than anything else either.

"Mattress" is hard as rock. Bassinette mattress missing altogether. After getting halfway through the set up I told my husband to take it apart. This is VERY poorly designed pack n play. Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I love, love, LOVE this product.

PROS: It puts baby right up to the bedside.
It's the only Pack N Play that has a co-sleeper attachment. It can be used for MANY months, my daughter is 5 months and still fits in the co-sleeper. The vibrations feature is WONDERFUL for getting baby to stay asleep. Cute fabric! Lots of pockets. Folds up easily.

CONS: It's a little difficult to assemble (especially the co-sleeper part), but it doesn't take a rocket scientist or anything. My Mom and I did it easily in about 2 hours.
There are no boy patterns... I had picked this product out before we found out if we were having a boy or a girl, and would have purchased it regardless, but it was rather girly.
The mattress part is hard. BUT!!! This makes it super sturdy when in the bassinet part. I just padded it with a quilt and it seems to work fine.

Overall, I have recommended this product to everyone I know and I absolutely adore it. I would buy it again and again. It's worked WONDERS for our family and allows me to keep my daughter at arms reach. She seems comfortable, and sleeps well in it. It makes nighttime breastfeeding easier!

Nice pack n play

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I'm not sure why people are complaining this playard was difficult to put together. I took it out of the box and assembled it all by myself in under an hour, just two short weeks before I had my my baby. Yes, the directions were a bit confusing at times but not impossible to figure out.

As far as the weight, without the close n cosy and changing table, the weight is very similar to others on the market (I know I have a graco w/o the bells and whistles). If you're going to use this for traveling, I suggest leaving all the other unneccessary stuff behind.

We use this playard in our bedroom so the close n cosy was nice to have; especially during those first few weeks at home with a newborn and little/no sleep...although our baby girl grew out of it in about a month.

Overall, this is a pretty good playard. I gave it 4 stars because the changing table is useless if the close n cosy is on the pnp and the music box is a little cheesy. Oh yeah, I ended up purchasing a playard mattress because the one that comes with this product is terribly hard and has no padding.

I didn't think the directions were that terrible, I mean come on, most directions are confusing. It was fairly easy to put together. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that it has the Close and Cozy part so my daughter will be right next to me. The mattress is HORRIBLE!!!! I'm going to buy another mattress but really, nothing is perfect and that is one of the compromises. I LOVE the MP3 option. The pre-programmed music is loud but the MP3 output volume can be controlled. I really like it overall. There is no perfect product sometimes you just have to think outside the box to make it what you want! Good buy overall!

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I received this item at my baby shower and couldn't wait to get home and set it up. My husband and I spend the day setting up baby stuff, and this one was by far the most amusing. We got it up just fine but couldn't figure out why it wouldn't collapse when you pushed the buttons on the rails. Well, if we would have READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, we would have known that as an extra security measure you have to twist and pull the handle at the bottom. Point being, this product is not difficult to set up if you take the time to read the directions. It looks great and feels super sturdy(unlike a lot of the other playards I looked at). My only complaint is that when I opened the box, the music center was broken. However, I just got off the phone with customer service (3 minutes) and they are going to send me a brand new one. I didn't have to get upset or anything, they were super helpful and very accommodating. It's definitely worth the money!

We used the close n cozy when she was a newborn, I think she liked that it was small, and so she felt more cozy in it. The vibrating feature is awesome! She loves that! The music is pretty loud even on the lowest setting, so I put something over the speakers to muffle the sound a bit, and it worked well. The bassinet is big enough that we can set her carseat or bouncer in it if she falls asleep in either of those and we want her up and out of the way from the cats. Love this product, couldn't be happier!

Being a soon to be new father I have been researching many items for the comming little one. I have read many reviews of this unit and many mention how hard it is to lock the side rails in place, this is only true if you skip ahead and try to do that after locking the bottom in place. Just follow the directions and no issues.
We haven't had the baby yet so I can't speak for the rest but it a very solid feeling unit and was very easy to put together. I like the fact that hte same matress is used for all three areas if you choose to.

Happy parenting.

I was a little worried about keeping this particular playard on my baby registry since all the reviews i read from others either completely loved it or hated it but despite my doubts i kept it on and ended up recieving it at my baby shower. im 38 weeks pregnant and just recently put it together. i expected it to be a hassle from what others were saying but found it to be quite easy.. its just like any other playard but with other convenient features such as the close and cozy sleeper and the changing table. those are the only two things that really need assembly. i'll agree with one thing though, the playard mat/pad is a bit more on the hard side but those things arent meant to be these super plush things and i agree that it should be waterproof but i saw that babiesrus sells a waterproof playard pad cover which is what im going to try out. all in all i think for the price and all the features that it does come with its definantly a good buy and for anybody who is still having doubts the only thing i can say is to try it out before you completely "X" it off your list..

Competative but not great...

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I chose this play yard to serve as a bassanet during my daughter's first three months. Love that she's at the perfect height for easy access in the middle of the night and I think the look is tolerable in an adult's room (super cute for her room, of course).

I had three main concerns/frustrations with the product:

1. You can't use the changing table and the bedside sleeper at the same time and it isn't practical to change between the two on a regular basis. This almost kept me from purchasing the item.

2. Putting the bedside sleeper together was a bit frustrating. The parts didn't quite fit and one of the bars was absolutely the wrong size.

3. The music center was broken when I opened the box. I had to wait for the manufacturer to send out a new one.

SUPER HELPFULLLL!!!!

It was a little hard to set up but if I can do it at 9 months pregnant, anyone can! And if you just go step by step with the directions, then youll be ok!!! It has something for your baby to sleep on while its a newborn, a few months later, and a few months after that! I think its awesome! It has a recorder and mp3 player so if your baby cries it will start playing what you recorded! I think its one of the best gifts i got and I love it! Just make sure you take your time and read the directions and its not bad at all to set up =)

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
We registered for this playard because we thought that we would use the bedside co-sleeper part but our baby HATED it. She doesn't even like the bassinet. The "Mattress" is really hard, and not even SIDS resistant hard, it is super stiff like a board and my baby wont sleep on it.

The music on the music station is WAY too loud even for the lowest setting. It would never soothe a baby.

It is a very nice looking playard but that's about it. My mom has the Boppy Playard at her home and my baby LOVES that one! So it's just not the playard in general, she just hates this one.

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
This playpen was extremely hard to put together, the mattress is like laying on cardboard. the changing table is very low and it goes on a slant. This was not a cheap item but it sure is built like one. I just bought a graco pack and play with a posture plus changing table and it is fantastic.

horriable set up

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
The music box attachment came broken but my husband was able to fix it after taking it all apart.

The set up was about 45 mins. My husband was tasked with that too as its not that easy. Theres alot of stuff to piece together. The bassinet was rather small and not used long. We have twins and they both fit in there for the first two weeks. Other then that its a normal pack and play. Does nothing special. As another poster expressed its not waterproof. My daughters diaper leaked pee and it created a nice circle on the pad. This should be waterproof and stain resistant like most other. This is our 4th pack and play. This was also the most $$ one i have purchased. I would rate it last...which doesn't say much. The car seat that matches this set is a nightmare. So do your self a favor and don't buy this set cause its "cute".

Love it!

I don't know why my previous comment from yesterday did not show up. Anyway, I took this item back for them to show me how to put it together. The base needs to stay up while you pull up and lock the sides. Once the sides are locked then push the base down. Rest of the items are put together and the whole thing looks quite nice. Now waiting for the occupant to arrive in a few weeks.

Liked the product and the features. Will get to experience the joy if this thing can be setup! I am not able to get the side bars locked on this thing. Taking it back to store for them to set it up for me. I would recommend this product based on features but do not expect to set it up easily by yourself.

its ok, could be better

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I love the pattern and how girlie and stylish it is (one of the main reason why I bought this item), and the co-side sleeper was great but my daughter quickly grew out of it after only two months. the mattress padding was to hard so I put the mattress from the traveling bassinet in it and she sleep perfect. although now that we no longer use cosleeper it was super hard to disassemble and is very bulky. the music box was way to loud even on the lowest setting. now that my daughter sleeps in the bassinet part the mattress is still to hard and is not all the way flat you can feel where it bends. I lay a ton of soft thick blankets down and cover with a bassinet sheet. wish it would have had a mobile. a bit hard to assemble. easy to put up and take down

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
This playpen is great! We used the bassinet topper like a bedside sleeper. It was great! My daughter was right next to the bed without being in the bed. It made her nightly wake ups very easy. You could lean over and cover her back up or put the pacifier back in her mouth. My daughter is 2 1/2mo now and she is too long of the bassinet topper. We have since moved the playpen in the living room and use it for her naps & changing table. I love that there are two levels. So she is not all the way in the bottom. This is a great playpen! We love it! It does take a min or two to put together. Sometimes the sides don't want to lock into place, but once you get the hang of it, it works great!

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
I debated over play yards for awhile, chose one with fewer bells and whistles and then changed my mind and got this one. While I do like the pattern/color of this one, I do wish I would have gotten the other play yard. I never used the music (SO LOUD)or the bed/basinette or the changing table that flips back and forth (an is poorly constructed). So far I have used this when we have travelled and at day care. I like that you can put the netting in to have the baby higher up when she is little and then remove the netting to put her on the bottom when she is bigger. I also like that all of the pieces fit into a travel bag, but I think this is the case for all play yards. I wish I would have bought the other one (different much more popular brand) because it's simpler and less expensive. This play yard is also SO difficult to assemble and collapse. It is a work out just to do it!!

Comments about Baby Trend Playard Gabriella:
After creating our registry, I then looked at the reviews online about this item. I became slightly worried about its ease of assembly and travel capabilities...... but we got it anyways. I figured all the people complaining about how tough it was to assemble and take apart were not reading the directions properly, if at all. And, after initial assembly, I was still worried because it did take an hour to put together: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS PEOPLE!!!!!

After our baby was born, we used it only as a bassinet in our room..... then, after a few weeks family watched our daughter and the test came. Take it apart, bag it up and put it back together..... the first time was tough but after learning the trick to the whole thing, its easy!!! 30 seconds is all it takes to pull it out of the bag, lock the rails and insert the mattress. ITS VERY SIMPLE IF YOU CAN READ INSTRUCTIONS..... if you already purchased this and are having issues, remember to always keep the legs folded up when locking the rails, otherwise, they will not lock properly and you will HATE this product, your own fault, not the manufacterers. Simply keep the base of the playard, where the lock is, raised up and allow the rails to stretch out..... pull up on them and they will lock on both sides. Do not open the entire thing up and expect the rails to lock. it wont happen. Just read the instructions and do as they say, word for word and you will LOVE this thing!!!! Already taken 3 trips with it and had several stay overs at families with it..... its 99% perfect, only defect the light on the music box.... but Babies R Us fixed that right away.....
