Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara reviews

good deal, but hot and bulky
3 stars

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
Our son is 4.5 months old now, weighs 16 lbs, and still fits very comfortably in the carseat. The newborn insert was great to use when he was just a tiny baby. Installation was a breeze, and the "click" feature to ensure you've locked it in place is great - foolproof. Being able to unload the carseat and snap it in to the stroller directly is nice, since you don't wake up the sleeping baby. However, the material is not very breathable, and now that it is July and getting hot, our son sweats a lot in his seat. Doesn't seem to bother him much, but after a 30-min car ride, he is hot and sweaty to the touch. The stroller is also pretty bulky, and is very difficult to manage "one-handed," especially since once the stroller is folded, it no longer maintains its balance and starts to fall over on its wheels. Nonetheless, I think it's a good deal for the price.

Squeeky.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
It works just fine. nothing special about it. The stroller looks ok. My only problems are that after less than a month of use the wheels started getting squeeky. Also it was getting quite difficult to open the stroller.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
This stroller is very heavy. My legs r always bruised from lifting it up from the car. My son always looks uncomfortable in it. He has no lower back support. He used the little car seat for 3 weeks only because it longer fit him and the stroller itself was still to big to fit a 3 week old. And im not the only one who this this stroller is bad. Our friends have a 7 month old daughter and they also always complain about this stroller. I had enough. Im making a trip to babiesrus this weekend to but a new one.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
I love the carseat - seems comfortable for baby, very secure and the straps are easy to use. The newborn insert is great. The stroller rides very smooth. Love the cupholder and compartments. The stroller also seems very comfortable for my daughter.

Cons - the shades should be bigger, in my opinion. There is always a little too much sun on my daughter's face. The basket doesn't fit my diaper bag when the seat is down flat for the carseat. But when the seat is up, it fits much more. The stroller is a bit bulky (as many travel system strollers are) - takes up just about my entire trunk, but I have a fairly small car (Hyundai Elantra). It fits though, so I'm happy.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
I like the cushiony insert for the baby's back and bottom. I hate the fact that the stoller seat back has to be all the way down flat for the infant seat to click into place. Because once the stroller seat back is all the way down you can't put anything into the storage compartment below. I also do not like the plastic button for the pull strap at the foot end of the infant seat. My baby is 6 months old and he's always kicking his feet and hitting the back of his heels on this hard plastic thing. Ouch!

i love this set! I almost didn't buy it because it's a little more expensive but it is worth it! It has awesome crash test rating which is absolutely priceless! the car seat and stroller are very sturdy but the stroller doesn't fold up that much so it does take up quite alot of room. Also, you can't get your diaper bag into basket without moving seat. it isn't a dark brow either its just a tan, its definitely not dark colors

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
The carseat is is great! Pretty heavy but it's so easy to use and makes me feel like my tiny girl is safe! If I had it to do over, I'd buy the set with the Keyfit30 since it goes up to 30 lbs and mine only goes to 22. It's really too heavy to carry with a baby weighing over 22 lbs, but it would be nice to at least have the option to carry her inside when she falls asleep, and we won't have that anymore once she packs on a few more pounds.

The stroller is nice but very bulky - it takes up most of the trunk space in my Honda Civic sedan.

Despite the few drawbacks I love this set and wouldn't buy anything else.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
I've owned this stroller going on 3 years through 2 kids. Pretty durable as I'm still using it. The basket has a plastic undersupport that slides off center and I have to pop it off to fix it after lots of use. Other than that, has held up well. Must say this is awesome to open and fold--quick and easy. Stroller isn't that heavy. I also own a Kolcraft & Combi. This is the best in cup holder and snack tray!I have the matching playyard & infant seat too. Good products. Good brand.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
The stroller is awesome, very light, easy to open and close and easy to maneuver. The stroller is actually a darker brown than what it appears on the pics. On the pictures it seems to be light brown but its much darker. I decided to exchange it for the synergy color (red/gray/beige) instead but absolutely love the model.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
I have used this product since my son was born and it still using it at almost 3 yo. The infant seat was great and he was very comfortable. THe infant seat is a little larger than other brands so you will need to make sure there is plenty of room in your car prior to purchasing. The stroller is still used today and I love how much room is available in the basket. Perfect that the handle bar adjusts since I am fairly tall.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
The reviews on this travel system is what initially sold us....but once we got it...I was hooked. I absolutely love the car seat. My daughter slept in it all the time and I fed in her in it until she was big enough for the highchair (which is also Sahara by Chicco). We traveled alot with this car seat and my daughter was very comfy at all times. The best feature of this travel system is that you can open/close the stroller with one hand. It's super easy to use and very durable. Some other reviews talk about it being bulky...but it's no more bulky than any other travel system. I actually think it folds up better than most. No complaints on this or the other Sahara by Chicco products (we have them all and love them)!

Great for Premature babies.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
We used this travel system when my son was born-he was premature and this was one of the only infant car seats I could find at the time that was rated for 4 pounds and over. My son was 4 pounds. So this was perfect. I didn't know that my only choice at Babies R' Us would work out so well! Now my son is 2 1/2 and we can still use the stroller since it goes up to 50 pounds. But, we don't use the car seat anymore since it only went up to 20 pounds. But, I have to say the fabric on both the stroller and car seat are so easy to care for. Honestly we did not take very good care of them-we let our son eat and drink in it. We changed his diaper in the stroller a couple of times. We let him eat ice cream in it. So it was a mess. But, all you have to do is wipe it down with a kitchen sponge and some dish washing soap and water-and poof all the stains disappeared! It's got to be the best fabric ever-if only they could make couches and carpet out of that stuff then I'd never have to worry about anything! The only negative comment I would say is that it's quite bulky-but, most strollers are except the umbrella ones[...]at Babies R Us this is still their lightest and best selling travel system. My advice is to buy this stroller if you have a large trunk and you will not regret it!

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
I purchased this travel system before the birth of my first child. After reading all of the safety reviews for the car seat I was sold. I have no complaints about the functioning of the car seat, however, I feel that the stroller is not up to par. The stroller is quite heavy for a single and the sun shade and basket are inadequate. Once I moved my daughter into a regular car seat I purchased a Maclaren Techno XT and have never again used the Chicco stroller. If I could go back I would have purchased the car seat only and used with a Snap n Go until my daughter was big enough for the Maclaren. Another major issue that I was very unhappy about was the lack of compatibility with double strollers. Chicco is really missing the boat on the compatibility issue. Overall, I would not purchase as a travel system again.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
After trying out 3 different Brands of strollers in the store, my husband and I found the Chicco stroller to be the best. It was much easier to open and close, and we loved the fact that when it was closed, it still stood up; which made lifting it much easier. The wheels also maneuvered better than the other strollers. We also like the fact that when the carseat was hooked into the stroller, it did not more around like the carseats in the other strollers. You definitely DO get what you pay for and even though this stroller/ carseat was a little more expensive than some of the others, I'm extremely satisfied with our purchase!

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
The stroller is so easy to maneuver. It turns great and the wheels don't get turned around. It's a little heavy when taking it in and out of your car, but worth it. The car seat is great too! It fits to my sons body very well, and I feel like he is very safe. It's easy to get in and out of your car as well! I would buy this product and brand again and again. I have everything that Sahara by Chicco offers and I love them all. Chicco is such a great brand, there stuff is very durable.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
I bought this travel system about 5 months ago before my son was born, he is now 3 months and we use the stroller all the time. The color is perfect for a boy or girl. The base is as easy as it get, and to install it is very simple. The stroller is rides like a mercedes benz, very smooth and the child feels no bumps in the road or side walks. On the down side it has no slots to put it in a store buggy, so it will not sit in a buggy sturdy, it will wobble! Also when you use the stroller with the car seat in it, it is very hard to get your diaper bag out from under neath it. Other then that i absolutely love it!!!!

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
After much research, we decided on this travel system and we would buy it over and over again. The carseat was a dream, very comfortable for my daughter. She absolutely loves being in it. She is almost 1 now and still works perfect for her. I've heard people complain that the carseat is heavy - and it's definitely heavier than others on the market, but it feels SO much more sturdy and safe. I have weakling arms and I still have no complaints. The base is extremely easy to install and that matters A LOT! I love the stroller, it's very easy to fold up. I have a LITTLE car - a Chevy Cobalt, and it fits in my trunk horizontal and perpendicular. The only slight downside I can see is that when you have the infant carrier snapped into the stroller, it doesn't leave much storage room underneath - you definitely can't fit your diaper bag down there in that position. However, I just slung my diaper bag over the handle bar and it worked just fine - that way I had somewhere (the basket) to put everything else! :)

This travel system is the best thing around! We bought it upon recommendation of friends and are so happy with it. We used it until our child could no longer fit in it. Safest car seat as well, a year ago our family was in a high speed accident and our child was keep safe and protected, only had a bruise from the straps which is to be expected. With any other seat who knows what would have happened. Can't wait for the tandom double stroller to come out this spring as we are awaiting the arrival of our 2nd child!!

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
As a first time parent, I spent quite some time researching all the items I placed on my registry. I looked at the Chicco brand as I know several other mothers that used this brand and the reviews I read online cemented my decision to add it to my registry.
The only con I have with this particular item is that the car seat does not fit in the "seat" section on a grocery cart. Makes shopping a bit cumbersome, but we decided to go ahead and buy the Chicco child carrier and we just cart him around that way when we shop.
Great design, easy to use, set up and install. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
We LOVE this travel system. It was the best we found. And after reviewing the safety ratings of the car seat we were sold! The price of our child's safety is unmeasurable to us. Sure, there are cheaper products out there, but not as safe and as easy to use. We have revieved MANY compliments on our stroller & car seat from even other new parents. Many wish they would have also spent the extra money for Chicco. And even other people that are finished having their children say that they love the car seat and it seems easy to use. The highway patrolman that helped us install the car seat for the first time said that Chicco is a nice & safe car seat. And a lot easier to install than others around. That assured us that we made the right choice. I only wish they made a convertible car seat too!

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
i love all the chicco products. my husband and i bought this collection (except baby carrier) in january and we were not expecting our 3rd baby until july. our baby girl is now 5 mths old and i am absolutely satisified with ALL their products we own. the car seat is very sturdy and safe (highest safety rating in US). not to heavy (muscles grow when you have a baby from carrying them all the time). and the stroller folds easily and i can put it in the car with one hand (5'2" and 125 lbs). the material isnt that breathable so my daughter did sweat in hotter months, but if that is the only complaint i have then i am good. she wasnt much of a car seat baby (cried the whole time she was in it) but now that she can do more, she LOVES her seat and will sit in it and play well after getting home. the stroller seat has to be completely reclined to put the car seat in it (makes diaper bag access a little difficult but managable), but clicks in securely so dont have to worry about her falling out. car seat doesnt fit in the grocery cart, but if you look at the cart it says you arent suppose to have it in there anyway, for your babies safety. so in my opinion, well worth the money, few cons but not big ones and everything will have cons, closest to perfect for me.

my mother in law keeps my baby while we are working and she is in her 60s so she isnt a spring chicken anymore, and she has NO problem with her car seat nor carrying her in it. she is only 14 lbs so she isnt a chunky monkey either. compared to my sister in laws car seat (her boy just turned 1), my mother in law likes ours better, easier to use (tightening straps and getting in and out of the car).

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
Before purchasing/registering for any big baby items I researched them. I asked around and read the reviews and decided on this travel system. So far it has been great. The only 2 things I would say I don't like are how big the stroller is. I have a midsize sedan and the trunk is pretty big but the stroller takes up most of the room but that is to be expected for any travel system. I will also say that the shade on the bucket seat is not big enough, so when traveling the sun gets in my baby boy's face. I put have to put a blanket to cover from the shade to the handle to make sure it doesn't get in his face. Other than that it turns great and I love the one handle open and close. I think this is a great buy and not as big as some other travel systems. Happy strolling!

It's a great stroller. It clicks every time you are placing the car seat, so you know you did it right. It strolles very easly, you can do it with one hand. The storage is great too, holds up a lot of stuff (even very heavy) The only problem is that is big when it's folded, takes up a lot of space in a trunk!

Comments about Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller Sahara:
We definitely made the right choice in registering for this system. When I went to the store to pick one out, this is the only system that I could easily set up. The stroller is so easy to fold and unfold, and the carrier is super easy to put in and out of the carseat base and stroller. Everything "clicks" so you know you're doing it right. With the Gracco products, my thumb wasn't strong enough to fold up the stroller.

The carseat is easy to get our baby in and out of and the straps are quick and easy. The stroller has a smooth ride. The basket is great! It has lots of room, and I can access my diaper bag easily because the back of the basket pulls down, even with the carrier in place. Great feature!

Before I got this system, I was worried about the carseat and stroller fitting in my car. I have a Mazda 3 with a super small backseat and trunk. Both the carseat and stroller fit in easily. We still have plenty of room in the front seat and in our trunk.

We use this system everyday, and I'll be sad when our baby doesn't fit in the carseat anymore. But we will still use the stroller long after she outgrows the carseat.
