Great bottles, watch out if breastfeeding

I was breastfeeding and had to give my baby a bottle in the first week after she had some trouble latching. I chose Dr. Browns and have regretted it ever since because the nipple is not the wide design to mimic the breast. Beware of nipple confusion - I would recommend starting your baby with the Playtex Nurser until they're at least four weeks old to ensure they don't lose the ability to latch. I also got the preemie flow nipples to better mimic my milk flow. Kudos to the HandiCraft (Dr Brown's parent company) customer service department - one of our bottles' vent parts had a molding defect which kept it from sealing correctly. I e-mailed the company and they promptly sent me three replacements and some helpful product advice. Otherwise, I've had no problems with these bottles whatsoever. Cleaning them is really a breeze with the included crevice brush and a standard bottle cleaner. And my newborn seems to have less gas and spit-up using them than with the Playtex. Highly recommended for mothers who are not nursing.

i bought these to try to help reduce my child's spit-ups, which it did not help at all. these are no better than the regular cheap bottle, the plastic junk in the middle is a pain to deal with. you cant shake formula with this on because it gets stuck in the plastic junk which is nothing more than a big hassel.

AFTER RESEARCHING AND READING TONS OF ONLINE REVIEWS, I DECIDED ON THE PLASTIC BOTTLES. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE A PAIN TO CLEAN, I NEVER HAD A GASSY OR COLICKY BABY! I NEVER TRIED ANOTHER BOTTLE SO I CAN'T SAY THAT I OWE IT ALL THE BOTTLES...COULD JUST BE GENETICS, BUT I WAS NOT WILLING TO CHANCE IT. MY GIRLS ARE NOW 1 AND 2!

These bottles are awesome. I used them for both of my children, they are a little hard to clean, we had a dishwasher so they came clean, but with a sink and washing them by hand the drop in is hard to clean unless cleaned by a dishwasher.
Other than that I think this is a wonderful product! It takes all the air out so the baby does not have gas, or as much as the baby would if it used a regular bottle that does not get all the air out of it. These bottles also come with a piece that you put underneath the nipple so the milk does not spill in the diaper bag on the go and when you are not using them. I loved this feature on the bottle.

Nice bottles, cleanup is time consuming

Like many other people, I went with Dr. Browns to avoid colic and reflux. It seems to work for those purposes, but the cleaning of all those pieces didn't seem worth it. We switched to the Soothie bottles with no problems and a LOT less cleaning time.

The Dr. Brown bottles works great, but are the hardest things to clean. You have to hand-wash every part and having a baby and trying to find time to clean all 5 parts is hard to do.

We were concerned our breastfed baby would have problems with gas when we introduced a bottle, so we went with Dr. Brown's. It seems to keep the excess gas to a minimum, although for the expense and extra parts to deal with looking back I'd probably try something cheaper first. I am very pleased it's a glass bottle with the concerns over BPA (and who knows what might be a concern next in the BPA-free plastic).
