Drives Me Crazy! Terrible Straps

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
I hate the straps on this car seat. They are constantly twisted and hard to tighten. My son can easily push down the chest shield and get his arms out of the straps. And on several occasions, the straps have come unhooked from the back metal clip and pull through the front of the seat so he isn't restrained by anything! We bought a Britax for my daughter...It's the best seat ever!!! More expensive but worth every penny!

I had to buy a new seat after my 3 month old out grew his infant carrier! I did a lot of research and debated between this one and the Graco my ride 65! After testing both in my car (a Mazda 3) the graco seat was way to big and this seat fit perfect behind the passenger seat! It didn't take long to install at all and my son LOVES his new big boy seat!
Will go with the Triumph for our daught

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
The carseat is easy to install, but mainly because my car (a Ford Focus) is latch-equipped. The one thing I don't like are the straps -- they seem to get twisted and while I find them easy to use, my husband does not -- the chest clip ends up down by the stomach so I am always redoing the straps when he puts him in the carseat. The plastic stuff that comes with it (snack tray cupholder) were a little difficult to install and then we ended up taking them off right away because they just were in the way. I would say that the seat seems to be comfortable and sturdy. We got the seat when our son was 8 months and he's now turning 3. Our daughter, now 6 months, is getting too big for her infant carrier so we are going with the Triumph -- yes, it's more money, but the straps seem to be a LOT better and instead of having to thread them through different settings, you can adjust them from the front. I read reviews on [...] and people really seem to like it.

We have had this car seat for over a year now and we couldn't be more pleased. It is very durable and doesn't show any wear. It fits snugly in the the car and was easy to install rear and forward facing. One of the straps does get twisted from time to time but not often enough to annoy me. I recommend this to friends as a safe, durable, and affordable car seat.

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
We have more expensive car seats in my car (which is what our twins are in most of the time), but we have 2 of this one in my husband's car.
We were in a wreck on August 1 (the driver's side was hit.) My husband and I sustained some serious injuries, but our 14-month-old twins were not injured at all. These car seats saved their lives.
I've read some reviews on this seat doubting the safety of this seat, but I can assure you, if it is installed properly, it is a perfectly safe seat.

We have been using this seat since my son turned one. My son loves this seat. It has lots of room. The padding is thick which is a plus. We had another seat which my son got sick all over and we had to throw it out. He did get sick with this one and it lived up.

We have 2 of these - both have the same problem with the straps twisting horribly. This is more than just an annoyance, it's a safety risk. Switched to the Radian 65, and the only thing we miss is the fact that the Evenflo was tall enough for our son to see out the window.

Most frustrating car seat...EVER!!!!

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
The seat belts for this item are so poorly designed, every time my son is put into or removed from his car seat, the straps twist and the buckles end up facing the wrong way. This requires taking the seat from the car, removing the straps from their settings, re-twisting the buckles so they face the correct position and returning the car seat. Absolute GARBAGE. I would never, ever, ever, EVER recommend this product to anyone, EVER, not even if I wish ill upon them. No child should be forced to sit with the straps twisting against their legs risking injury if an accident should occur. Belts are flat for a purpose. More surface area against flesh equates less damage during a collision. If something is twisted into a smaller surface area and placed against someone more trauma may occur during an accident. In short, the designers' lack of foresight/insight into their product's creation leads to constant frustration. A simple plastic clip on either side of the lap buckles would likely solve this problem, but this company will never receive another dime from me to find out if they would include such upgrades.
Total garbage.

I've owned this car seat for a year now, it was bought for my son before his first birthday, and we've had no major problems with it. It was affordable, easy to install and adjust. And taking it from one car to another wasn't bad either. My only problem is the weight limit on this was 50lbs and he'd have room to grow, But a year later my son is not even 30lbs yet and I have the straps on the highest setting, I'm going to have to purchase a bigger seat.

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
I bought this for my 6 month old almost 2 months ago. He is in the 90th percentile for his height and weight, but he no longer fits in this car seat. He meets the weight requirements, but the straps will no longer fit him comfortably. They are loosened as far as they will go. I will be the first to say that my son is big, but hes not big enough not to fit in this car seat! We also have a Britax in my husbands car and he fits fine in that with room to grow. I also cannot get this seat to fit snuggly into my car. Its such a hassle since the tightening strap goes underneath the seat. I'm not comfortable putting my son in this seat anymore.

I bought this car seat as my little girl out grew her infant car seat at 14months when she met the max weight limit. My daughter was SO excited to get a new car seat that when I was done installing it (took about 15 minutes for a solid secure fit) she climbed right into it. We put her forward facing. The one downfall is that the straps do twist but unless your in a urgent rush untwisting them isn't that big of an issue. I plan on getting another one soon for my husbands car.
*Our puppy likes it too when my daughters not in the car with us. Its like his own seat! LOL

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
We bought this as a second car seat, and thought it was a good deal for the money. However, my husband could not anchor the seat without movement due to the single-latch belt. We put our 12 month old in the seat (24 lbs) and he was on the tallest setting, so there was no way that this seat would last more than a few months before outgrowing it in height. We returned it the next day and bought the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 which is AWESOME! Don't waste your time, just go ahead and buy a better seat!

We love these carseats!! I have a Saturn Ion and we can fit two of these carseats in the backseat, rear-facing and also with a third person in between them with no problem. The third person is a little squished and has trouble getting out, but that's expected. The only thing that I do not like is that the babie's heads fall over when they sleep and they usually wake up with a hurting neck. Otherwise, PERFECT!

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
I orginally purchased this car seat for my husband's car (Mazada 3) a smaller vehicle. However, it didn't quite fit right anywhere in his car. My 9 month old son had out grown his infant seat (he is too tall for it) so we decided to use this car seat for my car (Subaru Forester) where it fits great! It is very difficult to install. It only secures on one side with the LATCH system. After trying to install it ourselves, we decided to take it to our local Fire Department, where this patient professional worked for 40 minutes to get it safely installed at the right angle for my son. We had to use a pool noodle to get it adjusted back at a better angle. I would not recommend this for younger infants. Getting it at a safe angle where if your child falls asleep his head isn't in his chest was difficult. I still however, like the car seat. My son seems to love it. And even when he falls asleep, he seems to be pretty comfortable in it. It is very easy to clean. I do think it is also stylish. And our son will be able to enjoy it for a long time. Unless you have a mid-size or larger vehicle I would not recommend this car seat. It is also very stylish.

It is light and convenient and works fine as a backup seat for a smaller child. However, the straps are always getting twisted, and I just noticed today that my son (2 1/2 years old, 30 lbs, 3 ft tall) is starting to get too tall for this seat. That's no good since his grandmother has the same one for her car. Now we are going to have to buy a booster with a back on it instead. Very frustrated.
Do NOT buy this seat

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
This is seat is such a peace of junk! The shoulder straps start ridiculously LOW. There is no way my son will be able to stay in this seat up to 50lbs. He is 20 months, 29 pounds and already the highest shoulder straps are almost too low to be considered safe. So frustrating. We bought this seat to go in my husbands car - I have a Britax in my car and its wonderful. Now I know the difference between quality and junk in carseats.
Impossible to make safe

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
This product looks nice and seemed comfortable for my 9 month old...out of the car. However, when we went to install it, it was next to impossible to get the seat in properly and safely. Bought, it for a trip specifically because it was light weight and had decent reviews. The latch system only tightens from one side, making the seat tilt. In order to make tighter, we also had to use the lap belt...yet, the seat still rocked from side to side. My husband dislocated his elbow pulling so hard, that his hand slipped, knocked his arm into the open car door, right at the elbow, dislocating it. I had to physically sit in the seat to get it to stop rocking significantly (yet I was still not satisfied). The seat does not come with an extension for the tether for rear facing, and most cars do not have a floor anchor for the latch. Had to improvise by hooking to the side of the front seat. It took me over an hour to install this seat anywhere close to safe. I am returning to the store and buying a Britax like my other seats. Pony up the money for the safety of your child. Our whole trip, I was uneasy with my child in this seat. My husband and I are not idiots, he is mechanically inclined, this seat is just not designed correctly

This is our second Evenflo Titan seat. The first was used for our older two boys, and we decided to go with it again for #3. It's an easy seat to install, transfer between vehicles, and comfy. Fits well rear-facing in the center-back spot of my Envoy. As with many seats, you need a rolled towel or pool noodle to level it, even with the flip-out boot.
The additional padding should work well for a newborn. Pads and cover clean easily with damp sponge or baby wipe.

This seat will not fit tightly in my Mazda 3. I also hate seat where the leg straps are one big piece - this can make it uneven when you tighten the straps. Much better for each leg strap to be a separate piece. Returned this product!

We got this seat for our 8 month old twins. They were out growing their infant seats. We've been using them for two months and they seem to be fine. The padding is better than cheaper seats. Overall no complaints. The things people are saying about the straps at the thighs being oddly placed is true, however, I think the kids will grow in to them, and it is not bothering them. Good product!

I actually bought this in-store for a little cheaper after looking at all the other ones. It was a great price, and my daughter loves it. She was outgrowing her infant carrier (and it plus her was far too heavy to carry anyway), so I needed a new one but am on a limited budget. She loves being able to move around instead of being cooped up in a smaller seat. I'm going to buy a second one for our other car!

This carseat is a GREAT buy! I have a Dodge Neon and needed to be able to fit on forward facing carseat, one rear facing infant seat and one booster seat in the back, I bought two of these for my toddler and new baby and every thing fits great! My oldest loves that he now has a cup holder and a snack cup by way of his sibling's seats and no one feels crowded:) They were super easy to install, have been very easy to wash, and I LOVE that they grow with the kids! If your looking for an infant carrier that you can carry a baby in though, this is not it, I baby wear so that part doesn't matter to me. So if your looking for a nice, space saving, convertible car seat, this is it:)

I've used this seat for my son since he outgrew his infant carrier seat. The material is easy to clean both on and off the seat. Easy to adjust the straps. My son never seems uncomfortable in it. The material seems to snag but nothing seriously enough that I'd not recommend it to others. The side pieces that you can clip on require pieces, that now that he's old enough to use I can not find. Not sure if I didn't get them or they got lost. Would be nice if there was no extra small pieces to keep up with.

We just bought another one yesterday for my 4month old to use when she is out of her carrier seat. I love how the straps give and take to get arms in and out easily. They do occasionally twist, but we just untwist them. What strap won't twist every now and then? This is a wonderful seat when you only have [$] to spend!! And it goes up to 50lbs forward facing!

I love this carseat and so does my son. Its super comfy which was important to me as my son always falls asleep in the car. and i can see he is comfy by the fact that it only takes a few minutes before i hear snoring from his seat. It was really easy to install i was scared the first time i had to install it as my husband had initialy put it in and wasnt with me went i went to transfer it to a freinds car. it was so easy much easier than infant seats as i just pressed the button the strap released and i even with my prego belly was able to undu the latchs in my car (something i always had trouble with before cause they are so snug and secure) when it came time to instal i was able to easly pull the strap securly again something i have never been able to do.
The straps do twist but i have never had to take the seat apart to untwist it just takes an extra 2 seconds when strapping him in to pay attention and untwist them as i strap.
when we did turn the seat forward we did notice the first time it didn't seem secure than we realized we weren't use the over the seat anchor (that took us all of a minute to realize but its a must to hold the seat secure) however my husbands jeep doesn't have anchors on the back of his seats but we havn't had a problem with it being secure in his car cause he has bench seats not like my bucket seats.
its a great seat, and great price. would recommend!

good seat while it lasts. my son is nowhere near the height and weight limits and he's already almost grown out of it. he's 18 months, 24 pounds and 33 inches. it would last a lot longer if there were one more slot to move the shoulder straps up. he's too small for the booster seat i already bought. so now i need to buy another seat for in between.

This car seat is great for the price! The straps do get twisted but it takes an extra 2 seconds to fix them while buckeling your child, I would not pay 50 more dollars for straps that dont twist. I found it easy to install if you read the directions. My son loves this seat, we have two, one for my car and one for my husbands which is a VERY small car and it still fits, would recommend this to anyone and not suggest paying almost double for a different seat.

Seems like a good middle-of-the-road seat for a middle-of-the-road price. Also supports up to 50lbs instead of a lot of car seats (40lbs or so). Installation in my car (lap belt only) took 15 minutes, most of which was reading the instructions. The seat looks comfortable but is not too heavily padded, which is important for our son since he sweats a lot. I put him in the seat before taking off and he fell asleep right away. Would definitely recommend for those that cannot afford a more expensive seat.

Great carseat after infant carrier!

Comments about Evenflo Titan Elite Convertible Car Seat Raceway:
With a tall-framed child, I was concerned about finding a carseat that he would not grow out of quickly and has a good safety record. I spent a day putting my son in every carseat Babies R Us had on display and measuring the room he had to grow. This was one of only two that offered him more than an inch of growth room at a year old. Most carseats he was already needing the highest shoulder strap setting! Then I researched the safety record and found it is one of the best on the market (rated as high as Britax). My little guy finds it comfortable, and enjoys that he does not have to try to lean forward to look around. The shoulder straps are easy to adjust, and to tighten/loosen with changes in clothing. I was amazed to find a carseat with such a good safety rating, that my son liked best of all the ones I put him into while shopping (he snuggled down in this one instead of trying to crawl out), that had all the features I was looking for, for such a great price! (We have taken several short trips and a long vacation using this carseat now, and not a single complaint from my son.) I highly recommend this seat to anyone with tall children.

I like the padding it had and thought it would be good for my son who outgrew the infant carrier at only 5 months old. It installed easily and very secure. The straps is what made me go out and buy a new car seat. The straps were constantly getting twisted and made it tighter which would make my son uncomfortable. I was always digging under him to find the straps too.
It's just an average car seat. I expected more for the price.

Not hard to install, and our son seems to love it. Plus I love the built-in cup holders- more money does not always mean better! Great product for a great price!
