Frankly, most of them available on the market today are battery-operated.In any case, they should be safe.They must have a solid base to avoid tipping and a safe seat is necessary as well.Other safety features such as rolled towels for stability of an infant's head, will help to avoid accidents when an infant's neck or head can become trapped between the back rest and the bars.The biggest advantage of the crank models is that they can serve lifetime, if they have sturdy, stable frames with tubular-metal legs. And a big plus can be their well-padded reclining seats.

From the 1st time I used it the motor was noisy and then quit on the very first time. Graco is sending another motor, I have my doubt's on how long this motor will last.

PROS: Tray can be used for eating or playing later. Music, Toy on tray, manual toy mobile on top keep older babies entertained. Neutral color. Multiple swing speeds. Clearance price is reasonable.
CONS: Swing motor is noisy but babies may not mind. Lack integrated head support. Not very easy to put child in with tray and toy mobile attached. Battery-operated only (no AC alternative).

This swing is perfect! My dad bought one and then I did as well! We move it all around the house! My son loves to swing in it and nap in it! I love the fact that it has various speeds and songs! It also reclines which works perfectly when my son is ready to take his nap! LOVE IT!
There is no head support!

I am not impressed. My little girl does enjoy watching pooh move around above her head but there was NO head support just this morning she hit her head twice on the toy, and last week hit her cheek on the side resulting in a bruise. I would suggest finding a swing with head support for a young baby!

I love this swing, I have it set up in the kitchen and use it mostly when working in there so baby can see what I'm doing. The speeds and songs are great and the batteries have lasted quite awhile, plus my son loves the mobile! He napped for 3 hours in the swing a few days ago, he loves it!

Assembly time was only 15 minutes. Very easy to use. Got what I was expecting for the price paid. The hanging plush characters are well made. Keeps 3 month old entertained for almost an hour!
