For the first few months of my daughter's life she LOVED this swing and would almost instantly calm down/ fall asleep prior to putting her in it! However, the tray is the downfall to this swing! It is difficult to latch/un-latch and is pretty unnecessary... My daughter liked all the different nature sounds and music, I especially liked the volume control option!! Unnecessary tray attachment aside, it gets the job done!
Does the job

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
I did not have any motor issues that other people have complained about. This was an overall good swing. My only complaint is that when you latch the tray fully, it is a pain in the butt to unhook. It gets stuck and I end up pulling it with all my might, resulting in the baby jolting a bit when it finally does unlatch. I stopped latching it and instead just let the tray rest on the snap.
This swing has erratic behavior!!

As the headline suggests this swings sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. I bought it 3 months ago for my newborn and at first it worked. Now it works when it wants. At first, i thought it was because my baby was getting heavy. But with or without baby it just acts up. I've changed the battery and still acts poorly. I would not recommend this swing to anyone.

I bought one for my little girl who is due this month (October 2010) because I had all the other items in the Elyse collection. I put it together and it looked fun and cute...until I put the batteries in it. First, one of the "nature sounds" sounded more like something from a horror movie. I know this is October, and there's Halloween and everything, but really? How is something sounding like a monster breathing supposed to be soothing for a baby? Then there was the big problem. Like many others have said, the motor was messed up. No, returning it didn't help. The first one worked ok on every motor speed past 1 (2-6). It'd be ok if it wasn't for a baby. Setting 1 would start and stop and go fast. So I took it apart and returned it to Babies R Us. [...] I got the second one home and immediately checked out the motor by putting as little together as possible AND IT WAS WORSE THAN THE FIRST ONE! It only worked for 4-6 and still had the same horror noise! I love the design and I love the Elyse pattern, but I will not be getting a third one. I should have just listened to my mom and got a bouncer.

This is a great swing. Pretty easy to put together. Did it in less then 30 mins all by my self. Having 6 speeds is really nice. Baby seems to love it. The one thing that I don't really like is the music. All and all a great buy.

First off, this swing arrived within 2 days of purchasing it. I am having twin girls, and will be buying another one! It is super soft and cozy for baby and has a few different reclining options. The music is good and all the different speed settings are really nice. The only thing I wish was that the mobile spun on its own.

My daughter who is now about to be 15 months old loves this swing. Whenever she wants to take a nap she walks up to her swing and says, "night night" or "teta" (bottle). We've had this swing since she was born and it has worked great for us I don't know what we would do without it.
Will Have to Replace for baby #2

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
We got this swing last year at our baby shower. Our daughter (14 mos old) barley used this swing and after about two months of use it wouldn't turn on, or once I had it on it wouldn't turn off. Sometimes after we turn it off you can still hear the motor working though the swing is not moving. We replaced the batteries several times and it never helped. I loved the design of the seat because it was just like her newborn napper and it seemed more comfortable then some of the hard plastic swing seats. Needless to say, we will have to replace our swing before baby #2 arrives.

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
This swing worked well for the first month or two and then the swing stopped swinging. We changed the brand new batteries just to insure there wasn't a problem with the batteries and again it would swing for 1 minute and stop. Do we have to buy a new swing after 3 months? Shouldn't a product last longer?
I would NEVER buy this swing again or recommend this to ANYONE! I feel ripped off and scammed by Graco for putting this obviously inferior product on the market.

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
Pros: This swing is very cute and very comfy if you have a winter baby. (which I did not) Putting it together was very easy
Cons: The swing NEVER swings, the only way to get it to swing is if I push it myself. My baby is only 3 months old and the motor is not powerful enough to swing her and she is small only 11 lbs. I have tried lithium batteries and still will not swing. The fleece material would be great for a winter baby, but for the summer it is extremely to hot. It is also very bulky even though it does fold up it is still very bulky. Very disappointed, would not recommend this to anyone.

Well all i can say is that the seat is comfortable for the baby. The motor wouldnt swing the seat on its own, I would always have to swing it by hand and try to get the swing and motor in sync with eachother, than after a week it just stopped working all together. I had asked a friend that had the same swing if she had the same problem and she did. I returned it within 2 weeks of my pruchase and it too me 2 weeks only because I couldnt get to the store fast enough, I was ready to return it the NEXT DAY!! Not worth the [$]

I found this swing to be very useful. My daughter loves to nap in it, but as she's getting older I can't find any attachment toys for it and she gets bored and fusses. It's is really cute and I haven't had any issues with the motor except for the noisiness that she doesn't even notice. The music is good too, but forget about the nature sounds. Overall I really just wish I could find toys and I'd be completely happy.

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
We initially loved this swing, but we started having problems with it after about a month. The motor stopped working consistently. We thought it was the batteries, but we continued having the problem after changing them twice. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, so I don't use it often because I never know what to expect. Also, the tray broke when trying to assemble it. I wouldn't recommend this product, which is too bad because it's super cute.

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
I am a second time mother. My 3 week old is a bit of a handful and has reflux. While the reclining option on this swing is nice for helping her reflux, there are other faults that take away from that nice aspect. #1: the swing is kind of a pain to put together (if this was the only problem I wouldn't even mention it) #2: We put the tray on the swing and decided very quickly that we did not want it attached. Once attached it is NOT easy to get back off. #3: This is the BIG one... after only 1 week of using this swing (about a total of 10 hours) the swinging mechanism stopped working!!!!!! The sounds and music still worked, so my husband and I thought it might need new batteries... not the problem. #4: While the swing was actually working, it seemed like you had to keep the perfect center of balance to keep it swinging. If my daughter slumped down in the chair, or if the mobile wasn't in the perfect position, it would simply stop moving. #5: the nature sounds are not very realistic and they are more annoying than soothing.
If you happen to get this swing and the mechanism works, the choices for swinging speeds is a nice idea. My daughter liked to swing on a faster speed when she was awake but when she fell asleep, we could lower the speed and keep her asleep for an hour or so.
i'm disappointed

I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on the swing anyway. I liked the simplicity of it. We have a main house, a pool house and our little one will be going to daycare in a few weeks. I bought more than one swing and didn't want to break the bank doing it. For the price, this swing does what it's supposed to do and is cute. My daughter loves it. It does make more noise than the space saver swing we purchased, but she will be able to use it for longer (up to 30lbs). Overall, we're pleased with the product.

There were lots of negative reviews on this product, but I have had only positive experiences. My daughter is 11 weeks now, and she naps in her swing daily. The motor works fine, she fits well into the swing and she loves the sound machine with the different settings. We have only changed the batteries 2 times, and we use it frequently (as I said, this is where my daughter likes to nap during the day - so probably 2-4 hours daily, sometimes more). I would recommend this swing. It has been great for us as first time parents.

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
This swing has turned out to be a Godsend for my daughter. She loves to nap in it and also enjoys it when she is awake (she is currently 4 wks old). We used the swing the first day she was home and will continue to use it. Some great features: seat reclines way back and is very deep and secure for a newborn; variable speeds and surprisingly fast for a battery operated swing (we use setting number 4 typically); the mobile swings away for easy access; LOVE the music. Now, I read that several people think the music is boring but I love classical music and most babies do too. The music on this swing is beatiful to me and very soothing to my baby which I think is the point of a swing. It also has nature sounds. I love that it is battery operated because I move it from room to room a lot.

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
I too was a bit turned off and scared by the reviews of this swing on this site. However, I decided to still go for it and get the swing. And so far we are beyond pleased!
We had a small travel swing at first, and it completely broke on us, and we desperately needed a new one.
I was in the store one day buying diapers and saw this swing and really liked the price. I put Kirsten in the swing while i the store and she immediately began smiling and loved the swing. I played around with the settings and music and was happy about everything.
I will agree however that assembly is a bit hard. It took me probably over an hour to get it finally put together. But one it was together everything has been great.
It swings very well, much better than our previous swing. and I really like the ocean/water sounds. Kirsten has a sound machine with ocean sounds and it sounds a lot like the ones on this swing. Same with her bouncer!
I love how cuddled she looks in the swing too. She looks so safe and peaceful when she sleeps in it. The lowest setting is awesome for naps, and she loves sitting straight up and watching us or the tv!
I would totally tell anyone to get the swing, and maybe go over to help them get it together! haha! But other than assembly, its a really wonderful product!
Daughter's first "bed"
04/05/2010 by Debbie, Pennsylvania,
Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
We had no idea how much we were going to need this swing! As first time parents, we thought that getting a swing would be a good idea, somewhere to place the baby while trying to get things done. Well, our baby happened to have a little bit of colic (or some trouble adjusting to the world, whatever you'd like to call it), and also seemed to have a bit of a reflux problem. After she vomited all over the place the first night she was home, almost immediately after we laid her in her crib, we actually held her while she slept, until my fiance came up with the idea of putting her in the swing, without it on, so that she would be more upright (still reclined, but not flat like the crib mattress) while she slept. It was the best idea he could have had! The swing worked so well that we put her in it for weeks while she slept, no matter what time of day it was. As soon as she fell asleep on one of us, in she went. When the colic type of issues started, we also used the swing to swing her and have her listen to the white noise sound, which really helped. We would also rock her in our arms near the swing with the white noise playing. As she got a little older, we stopped putting her in the swing to sleep (we moved on to a bouncer, then finally a pack-n-play, then eventually her crib-it was quite a process!), but she still enjoyed swinging in it and using it as more of a place to sit, and would even fall asleep in it at times. We also used it when we first started feeding her pureed food, as it was so convenient (it also has a tray but we had taken that off when we were using it as her "bed"). Unfortunately, my fiance and I have kind of just put the swing aside and forgotten about it, now that our daughter is crawling around, but we hope to try to get a little more use out of it before she's too big for it. We would definitely recommend this swing because our daughter really seemed to love it :)

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
Worked great for a few weeks! Instructions difficult to follow. But after a few weeks the only way the swing would work was if my husband pushed the legs out extremely far and kept them that way with 2 by 4s. It stopped working again! I took the two by fours out and now it's ok. It works when it wants to. Nature noises are eerie and the music is just annoying.

This is a great swing. We had our daughter in the middle of December and so far we have had NO problems with it!! She has been sick the past week, so she has been in it (what seems like) nonstop. The only thing I "don't like" about it, is that some come with toys to clip on to the tray and some don't. The spots are there to clip them in, but we did not recieve any with ours, so to me it looks a little wierd. But besides that I would suggest this swing to ANYONE!!! I love it and so does my daughter!! She wieghs over 10lbs right now and still has much more room to grow into it.

This is the 2nd Graco swing that has quit working. I bought this swing on 12/21/09 and it has stopped working by 2/4/10. The motor starts clicking and then burns out all together. Graco swings are essentially all the same so I don't know why some are more expensive than others etc. I am going to return it and buy a Fisher Price swing. They all have higher customer ratings than Graco.

Comments about Graco Lovin Hug Infant Swing Elyse:
This was a baby shower gift that seemed to look a little better at the store. It was a little annoying when it came to the assembly, specially with putting the front feet on it. At first we had the tray on it but it was to hard to open and close. We finally got sick of it and took it off. It looks much better and is easier to take our daughter in and out of it. I HATE the "music" it plays. It sound like a really bad robotic version of the songs and it makes our daughter cranky when its playing. The motor of the swing is really annoying. Granted you learn to ignore it but its a pretty loud whir then clunk sounds. And we always have to give it a push start or it just doesn't seem to swing right. Besides that, our daughter does seem to like it (but I'm sure it's more the shape of the seat she likes then the actual swing).

My mother and father bought this swing as a gift to the new baby. It was easy to assemble but the tray would not fasten! After a month of use it doesn't work properly! The lights on the buttons flash on and off, the music slurs and sounds creepy and it won't swing. Sometimes if you start swinging the swing manually it will start again but the only way to stop it is to remove the batteries. And most times that won't even work. I doubt the store will take it back since it has been two months and unfortunately my parents didn't buy the warranty. This is the worst product ever! If you buy this then you might as well take your money and flush it down the toilet..same thing.

I have to put a blanket under it so she will have room and then the tray is propped up a bit which makes it to where she cant see anything but a big grey blob!

Whenever she doesn't want to sleep at night I put her in it and it makes her content. I love how the music plays a lot of different songs and how you can adjust the volume. There is 6 different speeds for the actual swing. I also like how there is an optional timer on it so that if turns off after a certain amount of time if you want it to so it doesn't waste.
I'd recommend this to anyone.

We got this swing the first week in April for our daughter who was born April 22nd. It never came out of the box until she was four weeks old. We have gone through three--THREE-- of these swings b/c the motors stop working at about six to eight weeks. [...]
Did not work right out of the box

The swing function did not work. We went to the store to have them check it out and it worked in the store. Then as soon as we brought it back home it didn't work again. Horrible item.

I was so excited to have gotten this swing as a gift because it matched everything else I had. I loved the print. However, I went through two of these swings and they were both horrible. First of all the motor is loud. On top of that, the first swing made a clicking noise even when it was off. The second one had a sound like the motor had got wet or something. It was a hassle for my husband to put both together and then take them apart. The mobile was also pointless because it would just move from side to side. I wanted to give it no stars but the computer would not let me. Please do not waste your money. I only had both for a total of 3 weeks and had these problems.
Not worth it!!

The swing has been great up until now. The motor stopped working and I have to keep pushing it to keep it going. My daughter loves the swing and now she can't use it. They aren't even open on the weekdends so I have to wait and call and see what they can do for me. This is very frustrating. I have only been using it for 5 months!
horrible

the swing is a tent like design so you have to have big area for it. the click of tray is loud and hard to use. it is definatly a two handed job. its motion settings are hard to use i push the button and cant tell if it is gonna swing without the light being lit up because one push turns on and off spiraticaly. there arent toys available for holes in tray and the tray doesnt have enough flat space to add own suction cup toy. the mobile might as well not even be on the swing because baby cannot see it. i wanted to give it no stars but the computer wont let me leave blank space
its alright

we have this for our newborn. The tray is incredibly difficult, and loud to latch and unlatch. I cant latch it without jerking my baby around because it is to hard, and the click sound when we unlatch is wakes her up as well so we just leave it in the down position. For now we don't latch it, but when she gets older i don't know what we will do. Swing motion ONE is perfect not to slow not to fast, but the machine cant keep it regulated so it stops all the time, and we have to give it a push start again. Plus the button to turn swing on and off is touchy, i have to push it five or six times because touching it once turns it on off and sometimes on again. It is a good thing the button lights up when it is on. No matter how you have the swing seat adjusted the mobile seems out of sight for her. you can move the mobile manually but i still cant get it in her range to see. the mobile doesn't squeek, light up or move. The music seems to be the only good feature on the swing. the loudness level is great and the songs are suitable for a newborn, meaning they aren't fast and chaotic like some other baby toys. very calming music. for the hundred dollars you will spend, this one is not worth it.
DO NOT BUY!
