Swings

Swings are an integral part of our childhood. Before purchasing swings, you must decide which one you want - battery operated or crank model. Frankly, most of them available on the market today are battery-operated.In any case, they should be safe. They must have a solid base to avoid tipping and a safe seat is necessary as well.Other safety features such as rolled towels for stability of an infant's head, will help to avoid accidents when an infant's neck or head can become trapped between the back rest and the bars. The biggest advantage of the crank models is that they can serve lifetime, if they have sturdy, stable frames with tubular-metal legs. And a big plus can be their well-padded reclining seats.

Good Swing
3 stars
02/18/2010 by Nicks's Mom, San Jose,CA

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
This is a good swing. I liked the different speeds and our son really seemed mesmerized by the owls "flying" around. Lots of reviews talk about the leg room, but we didn't have any problem with that. I think it looks tight because of the shape, but we didn't have any issues. The music was nice, the nature sounds were a little staticky. Overall, this is a good basic swing.

On second thought...

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
My newborn daughter did not like the swing at first so I removed the tray and used blankets around her and she was much happier. She now (2mths) sits in it for hours. Music selection is great. It does the job, so far batteries last a long time. I think if I were to buy a new one, it would be battery and electric operated.
The most frustrating part is that it ocassionally just stops swinging and I have to push it to get it started again... not good with a screaming, tired baby.
It also seems short, are all swings this low to the ground? Seems like it would be kinda tough putting a 30 lb child in it.

NO Leg room

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
There is not enough leg room in this swing, all of the graco swings of this type have this issue, don't waste your time on this one.. Had to return it back to store after I assembled it, and the assembly is not all that easy either...

No leg space!

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
This item is difficult to put together and has no leg space for the baby. Other than that, it does its job as a swing. I was not impressed.

A Bad Egg

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
My number one complaint about the swing is that once together it didn't work. The motor was running but the swing wasn't moving. The directions weren't the easiest to understand but i managed. I also thought that the belt to hold the child in would be very inconvenient if your child was thrashing and crying because you have to slide the shoulder straps into the lap piece then snap it all together into the piece between the legs. Though i did like the one handed recline and the fact that it did vibrate. In the end I returned it and got a different swing.

Disappointed in Product

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
Loved the look of it but after two months it just stopped swinging. I replaced batteries multiple times but it didn't fix the problem. It will start up but then stop swinging after a few minutes. The motor gets loud and "clicky" when it stops swinging. Disappointing for the little guy who loves to swing!

Good swing.

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
I like the swing. It keeps my sons attention very well. The reclining of the seat is a plus. I would have to say I dislike the tray because its so tight that Im scared his little legs are going to get pinched. The swing has a mind of its own at times as well, it turns on when it feels like it. Other than that, my son loves it. If hes happy Mommy and daddy are too.

Not what it seems...

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
My mother and law bought me this swing because I had registered for it we took it out of the box the day my son came home in October and by December it was not working.. This is not acceptable when it stops at 3am and he screaming because his swing is not working, so i returned the swing in December and got the same swing again thinking this one would work and 2 months later the swing will stop mid swinging while my son is napping and he wakes up screaming.. we have put the best of best batteries in this swing and it would still start and cut off when it felt like it! The swing is made well for comfort but that does not mean to much when it wont swing!! Very sad about this product!

Worst...swing....ever

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
This swing didn't work right from day one! Which is completely frustrating to a mom with a new baby who doesn't have the time (or energy) to take the thing back to the store. At first it didn't swing at all, then my husband shook it around a little and it started to swing, then it would only swing a little and then come to a complete stand still. The motor seemed to be skipping and it's loud! Finally, the thing just stopped working all together. Also, the "nature sounds" are a joke. Boo! This swing sucks.

Not Happy With This One

11/04/2009 by Two Little Boys, Waynesboro,VA

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
The best and only good thing about this swing is the pretty fabric. The tray is useless unless your child has no legs. It is so low I couldn't close it over my newborn. After two months the buttons stopped working and the swing wouldn't turn off. It drained the batteries and then when I took it back they gave me a hard time about returning. It was a shower gift and it had been longer than three months since purchase. I think for the price you should be able to use it for a couple babies, it only lasted a few weeks.

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
My daughter is 16 days old and never wants to be put down. The only place she doesn't cry is n this swing. I love all the features. You think gosh I will never use all this, but you will the sound the vibration and the different speeds all come in handy to keep baby happy. I would rebuy this product.

Really lovely swing

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
The swing takes about an hour to assemble. The tray fits a little weird... I ended up taking the tray completely off. Does not include batteries so that's a little dissapointing since it requires 4 D sized batteries. Overall it is made well and is a really nice swing. The baby is not here yet but I'm excited to rock her to sleep in this swing.

Cute Swing

This swing is great however it doesn't come with the toys. It has a place to attach them but no toys. Still wondering where I can find the toys that attach.

It's Just OK
2 stars
10/26/2009 by Nicole, Anaheim,CA

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
The swing is literally just OK. It took over an hour to assemble. It is rather big for our little house. The nature sounds are really muffled/static. The mobile does not stay attached. It falls on my daughter every few minutes but she loves looking at them. Seems like many people have the same problem so maybe Graco should review its product.
Did not even attempt to return because it's far too big to transport to Babies-R-Us. Plus they probably won't return it since it's assembled, I no longer have the box and I don't have a gift receipt. Their return policy is another story.
Although I'm not too happy with the swing, my daughter does seem happy to swing.

Great...The family loves it

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
We have a 2-1/2 month old grandson, he loves the swing. The only thing I notice is that he doesn't like it to put him to sleep..(He fights sleep in it, so grand mommy takes him out). The music is okay, and the birds sound horrible. I think that the product should come with some parts assembled already, and labeled. We had fun putting it together, and at the same time, we can see why it would be frustrating to some. It worked the first time around, and we're happy for the purchase. You do have to be careful not to smash anything while putting the baby in. GREEEEAT

Our baby loves it!

Swing doesn't swing!!
1 stars
10/13/2009 by Maddox's mommy, Georgia,

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
It doesn't swing. The music is muffled. Will have to return, but with a newborn, that isn't going the be the easiest thing to do. Also, the leg area is very cramped. He doesn't have room to put his legs through and if you lift up the tray to put him in it, you have to be very careful not to smash his legs. Would not recommend to anyone.

Don't judge a book by its cover

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
I would not recommend this product at all. It took over an hour to assemble and now when we close the tray while our daughter is in it she starts screaming, I do not think there is enough space between the tray and the child.

Great Features!

Comments about Graco LovinHug Swing Utopia:
Great Swing! I got it to match my packnplay. The features are great with all the music, vibrations and variations of speed. More than I would ask for! The one con, the tray is part of the swing and cannot be easy taken on or off. For little ones, it is just too big and overwhleming. When its up, it knocks on the poles. Other than that, a good buy!
