I am very pleased with this seat! We wanted to buy the bigger infant seat so that it would hopefully last longer and it did!! My daughter is 1 year old now and though we are looking for the next seat up technically she can still ride in this seat and she is a big girl!! One thing that I read in the reviews and it is true is that the seat is a little bulky and heavy but to me it was worth not having to buy 2 seats the first year.
Safest car seat!

Very comfy car seat, much more so than the snug ride we have had both. Straps are easy to adjust and really keep baby safe! We were in a rollover accident with our 8 month old baby in the car. He was in his Graco safeseat and came away without a scratch, even though we flipped 3 times. Doctor said it was a miracle he survived. Would never buy any other seat for my children, it saved his life!
Love it!

I love this car seat! We purchased it before our first child was born 14 months ago, and are excited to use it again soon for our second child coming in May. I get compliments all the time on the beautiful fabric, and I love that I can use it for both a boy and a girl - pretty AND practical! It's very durable - holds up to washings very well - and seems to be very safe. I have no complaints whatsoever - great seat!
Works great for us

We ended up very happy we went with a car seat rated for 30 pounds, as we now have a 20 lb 4-month-old! This car seat is great in terms of being easy to use, gender-neutral, and looks great.

We've nickenamed it the Cadillac of carseats. Its nice and safe.. my only problem with it is that the fabric keeps my sons back really hot and if he stays in it too ling he gets uncomfortable and over heated.
Good for bigger babies

Comments about Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat Birkshire:
We really liked this seat. We used it from birth (9 pounds) until 1 year when she got to 32 inches, but only 22 pounds - she's very tall. It seemed very sturdy. The canopy/sunshade was generous. We got two bases so we could just snap it in and out of our two cars. It got to be too heavy towards the end so I ended up taking her in and out of the seat in the car and carrying her in one arm with the car seat in the other hand. But we were still able to use our snap n go style stroller until 1 year, which was great for those naps on the go. It does not fit in an upside down high chair restaurant - but that's not safe anyway. We used a booth or on the floor when she wasn't on our lap. After a year the seat is still in good shape. I'd definitely recommend it.
Great Car Seat!

I love this car seat. It is safe and very durable. It is a bit bulky, but on the plus side the baby can stay in it longer since it is great for longer infants. The straps are easy to adjust. Also, when the fabric gets dirty it's very easy to take apart and throw in the washer. I have washed this several times and the fabric holds up great! I have used this car seat with two children now and it's still in great condition. The sun visor gets a little loose after a while. That is probably the biggest downfall.
Good quality

I really like this car seat. The color is gender neutral and my daughter looks comfortable in it. The only problem I have with it is that it is very heavy and awkward to carry. Usually my husband carries it, but when we aren't together my arm feels like it is going to break. As a first time mom I also did not know car seats exist that transform into all three stages starting with the infant seat then the front facing seat then the booster seat. Next time I will most likely buy a seat that transforms. But, if you are looking for just an infant car seat this seat will do.
Good Seat

We had the snug ride for our first two boys. I have big babbies (ie 11 lbs and 23 inches at birth) and they grew out of the seat at 4 months! I got this one because it is bigger and was hoping to use it longer. My son is 6 months and I think he will make it another month or so. Not till 1 but still better than the old one. It is a bigger seat which makes it harder to fit places and it is heavy but for me it is still the best combo an infant seat till about 7 months then the rear facing converbible for a while. Love the color and pattern. I did notice that when our son was first born the angle due to the seat being bigger was not as great for the little ones. I liked the way the snugride(smaller graco) fit for the newborn better.
Wonderful Car Seat!!!

Comments about Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat Birkshire:
This is a great car seat! Addie has been using it since we brought her home from the hospital and she is now almost 6 months. She still fits in it very comfortably, considering she is big for her age. (She's wearing clothes for 9-12 months.) I love this car seat because the straps are easy to adjust and Addie seems very comfortable in it; she falls asleep in it all the time. We actually got another car seat as a gift and we never use it because it's not nearly as cushioned as this one. I would buy this product again. I also like that the pattern is unisex, considering we have another one on the way!
Top of the line!

I bought this product with high expectations. If you are like me and do not want to buy the same cheap little carseats that are available in pretty much all the stores, then this is the one for you. My baby girl seems very comfortable in it and I'm not embarrased to carry it around. In fact, I have received tons of compliments on the pattern. Also, it is not flimsy like some brands that I've been warned about. Being a firstime mom, I had to figure out how to install it, which takes a little time and patience. The only complaint that I have about this carseat is the weight of the carseat itself. I didn't factor in the growing weight of my baby while making the decision and sometimes its a hassle to carry my baby around when my husband isnt' with me. I had to buy an additional carseat for my husbands' truck because I couldn't find a base on this website to order. [...]
Good seat, but description not accurate

Comments about Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat Birkshire:
I loved this seat but my 10 mo. old unfortunately has outgrown this seat already. He is 29" tall and weighs 22 lbs. The seat belt unfortunately has no more give after adjusting it to the tallest adjustment. I'm rating it just 2 stars because of the inaccurate description of this seat fitting up to 30 lbs. The only reason I've been able to fit my baby in this seat is because I haven't had any jackets on him until recently and I've basically been somewhat uncomfortably squeezing him intothe snug fit for the past month or two. Even if I had him in a onesie, there's no way he'd fit this after gaining a couple more pounds. 22 pounds seems to be our limit. I'm not sure why Graco describes the item as fitting up to 30 lbs, seems very far off. I would imagine that other moms are having the same problem as me. If you don't mind having to buy another car seat when your baby hits 9 mos. old, then go for it. But if you want to get longer use out of a car seat, I would suggest you think twice about this product in case you have a bigger baby.
Very pleased

Comments about Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat Birkshire:
The SafeSeat Birkshire seems of much better quality than the Graco Snugride Pippin, a gift that I exchanged primarily due to the higher weight capacity and safety ratings available with the SafeSeat. Not to mention that it is much more attractive, something of reasonable consideration to me seeing as it will become one of my many new accessories! We have a Volvo wagon equiped with a LATCH system, which provides for a very solid and simple installation. Baby won't be here for a couple more weeks, but so far I'm very pleased with this product.
Love this seat

This infant seat is great, I get compliments on it all the time. My husband and I are both very tall people so we wanted to make sure that we could find an infant seat that our baby wouldn't grow out of in a couple of months. My daughter is now 7 months old and still fits great in the seat and she is an above average baby for both height and weight. This seat is also a great choice for parents who do not know the sex of their baby. The only downside of this seat is that it is a little heavy, but its good for the arm muscles :)
Love this!!

Good Choice

I've used this car seat for 8 months now, and it's great. It is heavy - we live on the third floor of our apartments, so I've taken to leaving it in the car and unstrapping her to go up and down. But mostly, it's the kid that's heavy.
As for saying the pattern is not as pictured, the pattern is TOTALLY as pictured: A beige, green and brown paisley. I get compliments on this pattern ALL THE TIME. We got it so it would fit a boy or girl for later on.
The straps are adjustable, and once you figure it out it's super easy.
The biggest hassle with this car seat is rethreading the straps after washing the cover, but even that isn't as hard as other carseats can be. No tools, etc. required.
The base is easy to install, and the car seat snaps in easy-peasy.
All in all - it's a carseat. I don't really think about it, which says the most for me. I've never had any problems or issues with it, and my daughter loves it.
AWESOME SEAT! would buy again and again

I shopped around for 6 months to find a carseat that had everthing I wanted for my little one. Then I found the safeseat. It is very padded, comfortable, adjusts easily, comes apart easily to clean (I did this monthly and only needed the instructions the first time). The base installs in like 10 seconds and the new latch system makes the seatbelt TIGHT and didn't budge. Set the safeseat in and it snaps. To anyone who says its heavy.... duh...sorry, but it bigger to allow for longer usage...got to expect a lil extra weight, (though i did not think it was much different than most) but definately worth it! I knew my daughter was going to be a little "big" since her dad is 6'6" and I'm 5'9' and i did not want her to outgrow her seat at 9 months like my first one. This seat held her til she was 13 months and at 31" we moved her to the next seat (which is th graco my ride 65 and we love it too!) I compared to many of the more expensive seats and import seats, but really I never felt one more soft, padded, or versatile, and with extras...safety standards, canopy, head insert, foot warmer. She spent more than a normal amount of time in the seat and really was comfy in it. During the first month we used a whole body insert cuz she wuz so tiny in it, but used the seat comfortably since day one. I hope this helps some pregnant gal to be with her stressful task of finding the best seat...well it stressed me - like almost as much as her crib and mattress...it's like the second most important piece of baby furniture! Really is a great, comfortable, SAFESEAT! I have not researched carseats in the last year or so, and if I was going to buy another I would research again, BUT use this as the "one to compare to"!
Very happy!

I love the design/color scheme. It's perfect for either a boy or a girl. It's very easily to get my 3 and 1/2 wk old baby in and out of and keeps him very secure. I wish there was a way that while they're so young and their necks are still weak that their heads weren't forced to flop forward (since they sit so vertically). Until I bought the velcro cushions to put on the straps he would have bad red marks on his neck for his head falling over. That's all it took to fix it though.
Make sure to shop around

My husband and I did some research, but we didn't read reviews and now I wish we had. This seat has been easy to use after a brief tutorial, but it is not user friendly and is difficult for baby sitters and relatives to use. It is also quite heavy, which was a major problem since I developed tendonitis in both wrists by the time my baby was four months old (from lifting her, not necessarily from the car seat). My baby is now 10 months and about 29" tall, so she has outgrown the seat and I am looking for a convertible seat that isn't monstrously heavy.
I recommend this seat!

I have twins and this seat has kept them safe for the last year and we are still using it. They are 30inches and 22 pounds now so they would have outgrown the older models. I keep the seats inside the car now since they are heavy to lift out w/baby inside. And only tranfer the seat/baby when someone is sleeping soundly. Very nice not to wake a sleeping baby! I use the double frame stroller when I have to transfer both children. Easy!
