This is a fabulous carseat!! i was nervous after reading some reviews and them saying it was heavy but its not heavier than any other 30/30 seats. it is very easy to handle thats for sure. One hand strap change which is hard to find no rethreading, one hand removal off base very large canopy! They have definately upgraded the 2010 model no issues with straps or buckles, the buckel also has a protective cover so legs dont touch it and rated one of the best for safety. I highly recomend this carrier. Fabric is very breathable and stylish too..
The best option for our first child

It was a great purchase, my husband and I spent HOURS on the internet looking for the safest option for our baby. We were between Peg Perego Primo Viaggio or Chicco Key Fit. We finally bough Peg Perego, our son LOVES IT, for us isnt hard to use, yes it is a little heavier than Combi and Chicco BUT doesnt Matter, my baby is comfortable, and safe. Nothing about being to difficult to instal in the car, i'll go all the way around.
Heavy but SAFE!

I love this car seat! It is a bit heavy but what seat isn't? I did feel like it was a little uncomfortable for my son when he was a newborn because it sat a bit far forward, but now that he is 4 months we love this seat!

I've nannied for several years before having babies of my own, and I've used MANY diff car seats. While this peg is slightly on the heavier side, it is amazing. It is the most comfortable seat that we found for our own daughter who would CRY in a reclined seat for the entire ride in the car, once we got her in this seat she no longer cried and was happy as can be in the car. PLUS it's a nice length so we really did use it for our 90th percentile in height daughter until she was 20lbs. Whereas most of my friends had to surrender their graco seats around 9 months. It's not the most stylish, but the safety ratings are great....safety and comfort over fashion any day!

My son is now 8 months old and I am so happy I didn't listen to all the negative reviews about this carseat. This is one of the safest seat on the market, yes it may be a little heavier than the rest but that is contributing to the safety. My son is now 18 lbs and I can still put the handle over my arm and carry him. I am a single mother and am usually out on my own with him and can easily handle him. Do your baby a favor and endure the extra weight to keep him safe!!!

This was strongly recommended to me but I was very disappointed. The first one we bought broke easily. When it fell, the plastic material broke easily though it fell less than 2 feet high. Got a replacement. Though I have been using it for 7 months now, I hate it. The latch of the carrier does not disengage with the base easily. My wife and I struggle a lot with it. It is also very very hard to engage the latch on the belt. Very frustrating. The matching stroller is terrible as well. The two latches in the stroller that is for connecting with the car seat does not easily line up. When you have a 20 lb baby, plus the weight of the carrier, there is not enough time or strength to figure out how to align the carrier with the stroller. I am very very disppointed with this product..
Great Seat

This seat is super high quality. The fabric is not cheap and it looks sleek and nice. I know that I can use this car seat with my baby and my future children. It has a classic design and the quality will last for years. The car seat is heavy, but I know it has the strongest frame of any car seat on the market. Look at the reviews of parents who have been in an accident with this car seat. The baby is usually unharmed unlike reports from Graco seats. I choose safety for my baby over my own personal comfort. Side impact protection is so important. The car door provides no buffer zone for your baby if you get hit from the side. You need all the protection you can get.
Waste of money

Beyond looking stylish, and going well with my stroller... we've had nothing but bad experiences with this car seat. Our little one is 2 weeks old, and has already threw up twice on two seperate occasions. This car seat keeps him so upright that he's uncomfortable. Also the latch is so hard to get right every time we try to put him in. It has a puzzle lock latch which is beyond hard to connect when he's moving around then the bottom latch is so tight on his private parts. I'm always fearful i'll nick his skin the way it is so tight. he always cries when he's in this seat. Thank goodness I have the receipt because i'm going to try the chicco key fit with lots of good reviews...
great carseat!

Comments about Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30 30 Infant Car Seat Black:
i bought this carseat for 3 reasons
1. because its compatable with my bugaboo stroller
2. i love the neutral colors rather than the bright colors and patterns of most carseats
3. because its one of the only carseats that fit in the backseat of my 2 door convertible bmw (it does fit but i must admidt its pretty awkward to get in and out of the car, but we also have a truck which is a must better fit)
this carseat is heavy and awkward to walk around with but i cant imagine a carseat being lighter or more manuverable?? also how much do you really walk around holding just the carseat? i hardly ever do. I put my daughter in this to come home from the hospital at 6lbs 1oz and we drive pretty often and her head has never slumped while sleeping, im very happy with this, its easy to install and use and my daughter doesnt have any problems with it either.
Yes, heavy, but SAFE & fully loaded!!!

What infant seat will NOt be heavy? So this is a bit heavier than the norm or Gracos. But truth be told, it is FULLY loaded and so safe! You do not need extra head and body pillow support because, well, it has it all already! I LOVE this seat and feel so safe for my son. It also has safety features for car installation to insure it is aligned properly. Our car seat inspection office loves the seat too due to side impact protection.

I love the all black. It goes perfect with my car, and stokke stroller. I got a little frustrated installing this as i am a new mommy, but once I took it to the police station to show my how to install it correctly. Wow, what a breeze. It just snaps onto the lap bar, hold down with your weight and tighten belt, and that's it. It has a leveler so you know that it's at the proper incline. It is heavy, but i've never tried another car seat so I can't compare. I just know that it's heavy for me, but i don't plan on walking with it a lot. I plan on popping it onto my stroller for most outings or dr appts. I'd rather have safety over flimsy any day.
Heavy and not user friendly

With my first child I purchased the earlier version of this seat along with the stroller and loved it! I am pregnant with my third child and looking for a new car seat. Fortunately, my best friend purchased this seat with her third child and I had the opportunity to inspect it before buying anything. I was completely disappointed. The thing weighs a ton!!(it only gets worse as they grow) and I found that the handle, harness and release latch to be unnecessarily difficult. This was terribly designed. As a previous Peg champion it is hard to see a product so poorly designed.

I am not going to lie, this car seat is very very heavy and a little awkward to handle and after buying and using it with my baby I started having a little bit of buyers remorse.... BUT the bottom line is that it is the safest and when it comes to the safety of my baby, what else matters? I am glad that we bought this and i would recommend it to others keeping in mind that you would not be buying it for your comfort, but for the well being of your baby
Soooo many annoying things....

My daughter is now 7 months old and about to outgrow this and I couldn't be happier! I bought it because I liked the look of it and the SIP & they have pretty good reviews but I haven't been loving it! My daughter doesn't seem to enjoy it either but I don't have anything to compare it to to know if it's the car-seat or just the ride that makes her unhappy/uncomfortable!? This seat is pretty heavy & awkward to carry (especially w/baby - even at her birth weight of 7 lbs) & I'm not a light-weight (some of my friends can't even pick it up for me w/baby in it!! I get really frustrated with it when trying to push in both buttons on the side of the handlebar when trying to adjust it... it's hard & awkward to both reach & push 'em in when it's locked into the base in the truck! And finally, the warning/safety tag on the SIP is in a weird spot & now that she's bigger her cheeks rub on the rough edges of it when she falls asleep & rests her head on the side! Also, the threads are coming off of it so now the tag is coming off & it's giving her something to pick out and try to put in her mouth! I've seen several other used ones that are doing the same thing! Couldn't Peg have found a better spot to put this tag than right next to their face??? The pros... I like how easy the seat is to install, the ease of lengthening the straps and also how it adjusts as baby grows.
uncomfortable and hard to handle

I wanted the safest car seat for my son and that is why I bought this one. However, now that he is 4 months old and I have met other moms I realized this a very difficult car seat to use. All the other car seats I have seen are easier to get in and out of the base, are easier to buckle the child in, and are lighter. Also this one is too upright. When my son falls asleep his head always falls forward. I know it is safe, but man is it hard to use! If I didn't pay so much for this one, I would buy a new one. I now know to read the reviews!

Pros: Very safe & comfortable.
Cons: Heavy.
If you read the box it will tell you just how heavy the car seat is, so everyone that complains about how heavy it is should have read it before buying it? Plus how safe would you feel if the car seat were light? It holds upto 30 lbs so its bigger than most infant car seats, my son is 10 months old and weighs 25 lbs and is already 30 inches and still fits comfortably in it.
I highly recommend it, the only pain is the lining up of straps to insert and yes grandparents do find it difficult to do this.
The pros still out weigh the cons, safety is the most important thing especially if we are talking about a car seat.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

Researched a lot of car seats and finally decided on this one. We have not had any problems. It was very user friendly. It's sturdy so I feel my son is safe. It looks GREAT! I was a little concerned about it being black, especially during the summertime but the fabric is breathable so it never gets too hot. I even have a black SUV w/ black leather interior and still have not had a problem. The only drawback and reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how heavy it is. If I had to do it again I would purchase the same one, well worth the money!
