Kicking myself that I didn't originally go with this seat, don't get me wrong, I love the convertible my son was in before this one but the True Fit has the highest shell height on the market--- meaning my 97th height percentile toddler has at several inches more clearance overhead than other convertibles. This is a great seat for long-term rear facing if you have a very tall but lightweight child, as the weight limit for rear facing is 35 lbs. Easy to install with built in lock-offs (never be worried about using a locking clip correctly or having a shoulder/lap combo not lock properly!). There are a couple of rear facing down sides... it's nearly impossible to get the cover snapped completely after installing and some vehicle seat may obstruct the adjustment mechanism (though mine doesn't).

found this car seat through the baby bargains book and it comparable to the britax brand and 1/2 the price. It's very cozy and I feel comfortable with my 8 month old daughter in it. It was a little tricky to install (but then again, I'm new at this) but once we got it it is easy to go back and forth between both our vehicles (we don't use my husband's truck often - and I do the daycare drop off and pick up) so didn't monetarily feel it was necessary to buy one for his truck).

Chose this seat based on safety ratings and reviews on a consumer site. SIZE: Because of the headrest, this seat is enormous in the rear-facing position (baby is 15 mos and petite, but outgrowing Snug Ride infant seat). That's the only reason it's not 5 stars. We installed it in the center position in my husband's Honda Accord, and I still really had to move the passenger seat up. Now I know why everyone gets a van or SUV. It's not too wide, though--I can still sit comfortably in the seat beside her if I want (I'm also petite). We'll keep her rear-facing till next year, then should be no problem. The seat is safe up to 65 lbs, so the value is terrific. I just ordered another for my car, which is also a mid-size sedan. I rarely have a front-seat passenger, so I don't mind scooting the seat up to accommodate the car seat in back. SET-UP: The most time-consuming task was prepping the seat out of the box. The LATCH belt was all out of place, so I just had to look at the pictures, scratch my head a bit, and figure out how to thread it. Be sure to put the baby in and adjust the straps and shoulder harness to the baby before installing in the car. Installing it in the car was a breeze once everything else was prepared. Needed my husband to press down on the seat while I tightened the strap, as I am a weakling. We did need a towel roll under it to get the right angle, though. The second seat will take no time at all. USE: The lever for adjusting the shoulder straps is in front (up against the vehicle seat), but not as low as some other car seats. I've had no problem lifting it to lengthen the straps when needed.
All great things combined in one seat!

I'm so upset because I bought this car seat and the price just keeps getting lower!! It's a great seat, easy to clean, easy to install, easy to change the settings for baby.. it's much bigger than I expected.. I drive a Dodge Avenger and without the top head attachment it already takes up a good portion of my back seat. Once that head rest goes on I'll probably actually have to move my seats forward for awhile until she is front facing at least!

I already had one of these I ordered for my daughter and she still uses it two years later. I decided to get a second one for my son that matches to simplify car rides. The kids both love em. They're plenty roomy and lots of padding for making long drives comfy. They are relatively easy to remove padding to wash and easy to install. My favorite thing about the car seat is that is was one of the highest rated for highway safety. Definetly reccommend to anyone who wants to get your money's worth for something you'll need for many years.

Comments about The First Years True Fit Convertible Car Seat Casino:
I purchased this car seat for my daughter a few years ago and when we had our second child I knew that I wanted the same product. It is very sturdy and comfy. If you are looking for a seat to use in multiple cars I would not suggest this one. It is easy to install but it is very heavy and bulky so using it in one vehicle is best.

Please don't listen to the reviews that claim this seat to be difficult to install. I am not considered "handy" or usually good at this type of thing, but I installed it by myself while my husband was at work.I wanted to try it as soon as possible. My 6 month old daughter was too big for her infant seat and quickly grew into needing a convertible seat. We were impressed with the 5 star safety rating (from the Texas Department of transportation website) of this product and now we are impressed with everything so far. My daughter is not big enough for the headrest yet so we don't use it. I may have to remove my driver's seat headrest when we do need her to use it. I have a 4 door Toyota Tacoma. There is plenty of room for the seat and two additional passengers in the back seat if I needed.

I bought this car seat because it received great ratings from the NTSA. However, it is very large and is almost too big for my Camry. In the rear facing position, it is nearly impossible to get to the strap release and tightner. I call Customer Service and they said it is designed primarily for forward facing. When we needed to move it to my husband's SUV, it took us two hours to hook it up. I think you can find something just as safe that is easier to use and probably less expensive.

I got this carseat for his 1st birthday. I love how completely easy this is to install. Using the latch system makes it soo easy. I love the cushions that come with it too. My son is very comfortable in this seat. It's totally worth it's money.

This is the second one of these I have purchased for my boys. This first was just over a year ago. They are easy to install with modern vehicle anchors, I would NOT suggest this care seat if you have to use a seatbelt to keep it in place. It is easy to keep clean and my boys look forward to going bye-bye with mom and dad. The price is higher but it also scores high on the safety scale for the NHTSB. Spend the extra and protect you children.

This was the car seat that we purchased for my Daughter who is now 3. We loved it so much, we just purchased another for our 1 yr old. They are easily adjustable and you don't have to remove them from the car to do so. Lots of room to grow. Machine washable and thats big in our house. And the padding and cushons come out without having to undo all the straps. We love the LATCH feature and it is so easy. the seat is nicely coushoned and the material is soft to the touch. And the cup holder is the cherry on top. This is a parent friendly carseat.

We have had this seat for about 3 weeks for our 2 1/2 year old. She seems to like it. It was very easy to install and I LOVE the fact that you can adjust the straps without taking the seat out (our other seat that's in my husbands truck doesn't have that and trust me it's a pain). I haven't been able to pull the bottom part out where you connect it all so I"m hoping it's just stuck because I don't think it will fit her to the weight limit if it isn't and she is VERY petite. THe only other thing is I have the seat to my car up but she seems to lean back more in this seat than her other which seems to bother her a little at times, but if you started with this seat your child probably wouldn't know the difference. Overall, so far for the money it's a great seat.

When you can get one of the highest rated convertible car seats for half as much as the other brand top of the line seats, you have to do it. I read that it was difficult to install, but I really didn't have too much trouble. Tightening the belt for my son was the hardest part the first time, but if you do it before you lock in the safety restraints, it's a piece of cake. I didn't particularly like how the belt buckle rubs against his legs, but taking out the 3 inches of extra cushion fixed that as well. Overall, very pleased.

I love the fact that this can be a rear facing car seat and that there is now extra base to have to put on or take off to make this happen. I also love the fact that the head rest comes of so it fits properly in the car when rear faced. the inside buckles to strap it in why hard to figure out in the beginning elemanate the need for the little metal thing and this way I know the seat belt is locked in place where I put it and it stays. when it turns around this seat is good to 65 LBS !!!!! how awesome is that! this seat is a little on the pricy side but I look at the fact it is the ONLY seat I have to buy in the course of my childs car seat days and then it doesn't seem so bad. The safety ratings in this thing are through the roof as well and I love the little vid clip the company has to teach about the car seat and proper installation.love it love it love it !!!! it is a bigger seat to fir the bigger kids so make sure your car has room for it but know your baby will always be comfy and safe in this .

My 8 month old had outgrown his infant seat by age 6 months, as he was already 22.5 lbs by then. I was looking for a seat that would work as a rear facing seat for over 22 lbs, and also as a forward facing seat. I settled on this one based upon the reviews, the safety ratings, and the overall appearance. I have it in "misty morning," which is the color pattern that is sold at Babiesrus.com. I love the seat. I did not find it as hard to install as I had read in previous reviews. The seat has a different space for the seatbelt, or the latches, depending on whether or not you want it rear facing or forward facing. If you want it forward facing, you move the latches/seatbelt to the back location. The material seems to be a great quality, it is very soft and does not get too hot when it has been in the sun. The seat comes with lots of various padded inserts you can put in, depending on how big or small your baby is. Since our son was 6 months old when he began using it, we did not need any of the extra inserts. I did find that when the big insert pad was in the seat, the buckle did push into his thighs in an uncomfortable way, however, he is sitting in the seat without the pad and it doesn't do that. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone!

I bought this seat (in aurora) when my now 10 month old outgrew his infant carrier. I wanted a seat that would be comfortable , easy to clean , durable and would grow with him. This seat is exactly that. The removable headrest is great. There is plenty of padding and my son looks very comfortable in it. The pads come out easily and are easy to clean. The height of the straps are easy to adjust. It's great that you can keep your child rf until 40 lbs.

I ordered this seat due to all the good reviews I had read about it. Since it was not in stock at any store in town, I could not preview it before buying. Because I was purchasing this for my 1 1/2 year old, I didn't need the insert cushioning. When I removed it, I noticed that there was a 2-3"x 4-5" opening for the crotch strap of the seatbelt. I looked at other carseats that have the 5 point harness and all of them had slits in the fabric to accomodate for the strap-not one big hole. I am not sure if this seat was defective (since I couldn't compare it with another) or if that is how it is made. I think this hole also compromises the cushioning/comfort of the chair. I did see a booster car seat of the same brand/type (without the 5 point harness) and it was super cushy. Again, not sure if the one I got was defective or not, but I ended up returning it and buying something different.

My complaints are that in rf it is very difficult to adjust the straps due to the position of the latch. Correctly installed it is tight against the seat. This will not be a problem when he is ff. Also it was a little difficult to install rf. I think it would be easier if it was installed in a car with a middle seat belt that didn't have the shoulder restraint. Ours has the shoulder restraint so the seat seems to want to tip up. It took two of us to install. However when ff I know it is going to be really easy. There are two latches that just snap onto the metal hooks and the seatbelt just threads through (similar to the evenflo triumph).

Comments about The First Years True Fit Convertible Car Seat Casino:
As a whole, this is a great carseat. My 6 month old fits nicely in it. HOWEVER, upon reading the directions I discovered that the cloth is NOT machine washable. Not a good idea for a child's carseat. Also, it's a BEAR to get in and out of the car, and it takes up A LOT of room. More than the infant carrier with the base. I have a trailblazer and without the headrest on (yeah, that doesn't fit in rear-facing position) the carseat touches the back of the passenger's seat and the seat is comfortable distance back for ME, and I'm fairly short (5'3). I would NOT recommend for someone who doesn't have a large vehicle. Easy to buckle baby in, cradles him nicely, though. Just a few details that are insane about a carseat. Note on the getting seat in/out of car: They DO have a place on each side of the seat (where baby's bottom sits) that you can lift up and more easily unhook the seatbelt, but still not that easy.

This seat would make a wonderful primary seat. It was very well made, high quality fabric, and my daughter fit well in the seat. HOWEVER, the installation rear-facing is horrible! The cover has to be unsnapped to install the seat, then you have to squeeze your fingers between the carseat and the vehicle's seat to resnap the cover. While it could be done, it is very, very difficult. Since I wanted this seat as a secondary seat to install & uninstall frequently, it simply didn't work for me. However, it was meant to be pretty much permenantly installed as my primary carseat, I would have kept it in a heartbeat.

I like the belt clips - my cars don't have the LATCH system. It is a little tight in the back of my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am with another car seat. It makes the third seat a little uncomfortable. The biggest downside is it is hard to tighten the straps when in the rear-facing configuration.

He loved his cousin's Britax Marathon, but we soon realized it was expired. After a great deal of research, we purchased this one.
SO HAPPY WITH THIS SEAT! We do not use any of the inserts or extras at this time. It fits just fine in my Bravada (like a blazer). We have to use a towel under it to help it tilt like most car seats. I like how easy it is to strap him in for the ride. I like the secure locks on the belt as I do not have the LATCH system.

I chose this seat because it was recommended by a friend. It will last until our son no longer needs a carseat by law (65 lbs). It has many different ways to install the seat, we used the lower hook system because we installed it in our van's middle seat. The directions were very helpful for this!
I wouldn't recommend it for a smaller car as the head rest takes up a fair amount of room.
The seat covers come off easily for washing and the extra padding is really nice, we plan to take it out once he's bigger and needs the extra room in the seat.

This is the third car seat I purchased and it is perfect! I know there are some reviews that say it is a big car seat and they're right. It is a very big car seat but I was able to make it work in a Buick Century, Toyota Camry, and my Mazda CX-7. The CX-7 is by far the smallest, but that is where the seat is 90% of the time. My daughter is 14 months old weighs 23# and is 30" tall and she fits in it very comfortably, she has about 2" on each side to grow. I have had my two younger nephews in the seat and it works great for them also. The oldest is 5 and weighs 36# and the other is 3 and weighs 31#.
I was the car seat about 2 times a month and it is so easy to get the cover on and off. There is no re-threading or anything. All you have to do is unsnap the snaps take it off, wash it and snap it back into place. You don't even have to take the seat out of the car. I have it rear facing still and I don't even have to pull it away from the seat.
As for installation the easiest one out of the three. I have LATCH and all I have to do is hook in the one side sit in the seat and lean down and latch the other. The seat doesn't move!! BTW I'm a big girl and and getting into the seat is still a rather easy task.
My overall review for this car seat is GET IT!! I know the price tag is rather large, but you won't regret it. You'll have the peace of mind that your child is in one of the safest seats in the industry, it's easy to install, and your child will be comfortable.

Removable head rest useless for me

I chose this carseat for the removable headrest, but had to put the headrest back on just a couple of months after getting it, due to the fact that you have to have it if your baby is over 22lbs, or their head reaches to the "red line" on the seat. I also got this carseat since it can be rearfacing up to 35lbs, but now that I've had to put the headrest back on, it bearly fits rearfacing. If you are purchasing this for your newborn, then it makes sence. Just keep in mind, that you can not take this carseat out and carry it around like you could an infant carseat. As other reviews state: this carseat is extremely hard to install. Everything came ready for a forward installation, and the manual does not expain this fact. My husband had to completely take the cover off, and rethread the straps for rear facing. Also, there is a "foot" on the bottom that has to be fliped to the other position for rearfacing. It seems crazy that it comes ready for frontfacing, since I'm sure everyone uses it in the rearfacing position first.
I do like how the cover comes off for cleaning, and it seems very comfy.

This car seat was exactly what I was looking for. My son has been using it for the past two months after he outgrew his infant carrier. I thought is was very simple to install with the Latch system buckles as compared to some of the cheaper seats Latch snaps. My son is is very comfortable in it. We have gone on three or four 5-8 hour long trips and he does not get upset or restless like he would in his other seat. I don't know if it makes any difference to him, but the seat is very plush and soft. It is also very spacious. The seat is easy to adjust to his growth and I really like that you don't have to undo and re-thread the harness. My only disappointment is that even though the cushion and pads are very easy to remove and put back on, they are supposed to be hand washed and not machine washable or put in the dryer. I did go ahead and put mine in the washer on a cold gentle cycle and let it air dry and it did just fine. Overall I am really happy with this purchase.
Good Carseat

I liked this carseat first because of the color and design. Then I really liked the belt clips much better than most other car seats. The square release seems much easier to press than the belts with the round buttons. The final decision was made when I realized that the seat can be used from infants on up to 65lbs. The installation was fairly easy. I really like the button release on the latch clips. They were so much easier to attach than my graco infant base carseat. I like how the bottom belt strap is secured inside the seat once you have the length adjusted to buckle it into the latch system. The seat is nice and comfy although I can see the white styrofoam material under the top layer of padding through the strap openings. I am probably the only person who would notice something like that. I have only had the seat for about a month but so far my Baby Jackson seems to like it.
Wonderful Car Seat!

I love this car seat! As a very cautious mom I love the safety this car seat offers - EPS foam extends the entire length of the car seat and is quite hefty providing great cushioning-protection for the whole body. All cloth covers snap off for washing and installation was a breeze (if you have to use locking clips for your car you will absolutely adore the built in clips - they are so easy to use. If you use the latch system, the design of the latches gives you easy access to the release button for fast removal and no pinched fingers). My son is very comfortable in it and has no problems remaining rear-facing in this seat (he's 15 months). Now for the downside - this car seat is BIG, and can present a problem for installation, especially if the child is rear-facing and is tall enough to have to use the extended head rest. We purchased two of these car seats, one for my full-size van (it fits beautifully)and one for my husband's Saturn L300. In my husband's car, the car seat must be forward facing to fit and still have access to the use of the front seat. In addition, more sporty fashioned vehicles (with deep sloping roofs and only two doors) will have difficulty placing the car seat in the back. My daughter has a Chevy Cobalt (two door)and we had quite a time getting the seat in the back (with the extented head rest attached). We also lost access to the rest of the back seat once we placed the car seat in the center (the location of the car's side air bags made it impossible to place it on one side or the other) as it is also as wide as well as tall. I also agree with other reviewers (but to me, this is the only thing I would change in the design of the seat) the harness belt buckle is too low, resting at an uncomfortable torso height. Fortunately, my son is thin enough that, for now, this doesn't bother him. But, if you have the room and want easy of use. easy install, comfort and, above all, safety, this car seat is wonderful.
Great Choice

I am very pleased with this car seat. It was easy to install. It has the highest NHTSA ratings in the U.S. It is relatively affordable and my daughter loves it. I would say that the only down fall is that it is made to be rear facing until a child is around 30 pounds but once the child is 22 pounds, you have to put the headrest on which makes the car seat itself not fit rear facing in smaller cars like a Cavalier or Cobalt. It wasn't too much of a problem for me because my daughter can sit either rear facing or forward facing at this point. The car seat is a great choice and I recommend it to any one.

Love it! Great product...very safe and durable. It is wider than most, which is good for bigger babies like mine. My baby is 25lbs at 10mos and fits very comfortably in his new seat. It also fits very well in my Honda Civic, which was my concern with buying a bigger carseat. It was a more expensive than some of the other carseats, but it has great safety reviews which was very important with being in a smaller car. Only downfall is it took about an hour to install with the latch system, but it was well worth it. Very pleased overall!

Didn't work for us...probably best in a minivan

Comments about The First Years True Fit Convertible Car Seat Casino:
I really wanted this car seat to work for us because I was so impressed by the safety features, child comfort, and other reviewers comments. However, we returned the seat for 2 reasons. First, it was nearly impossible to install for a rear-facing child. We have a 1999 Mazda 626 which doesn't have LATCH. My husband and I both tried to install it and both ended up sweating buckets and almost cursing the carseat. We could not get the lockoffs to lock over the tightened seatbelt--in the rear-facing position. I took it to a seat belt check at our local fire station and they said it was one of the more difficult seats to install--once installed it should probably stay installed.
Which brings me to the second reason we returned it--it's really big. We wanted to be able to switch this seat back and forth between my car and my husband's car-- he drives a 2002 Mazda Protege. There is no way my tall husband could have his seat back far enough with this seat rear facing.
Bottom line, this is probably a great and very safe car seat to use in a minivan with captain chairs where it can take up all the space it needs.
Awesome!

This car seat is great! I purchased this for my 5 month old daughter since lugging around her infant seat was getting to be such a hassle. She is so happy in this seat and has so much room to grow! I put it in my Hondai Santa Fe myself and if you look at the directions it takes very little time (I think it took me 5-10 minutes). I am going to purchase another one for our other car!

My son has been using his new carseat for a couple of weeks now and I really like it. It was easy to install, the harness staps are easy to adjust to child's height and it seems to be well made and comfortable. I also like the fact that he will be able to use this seat for awhile since the weight max is 65 lbs. He outgrew his infant bucket seat too fast as he is only 7 months and already 22 lbs.

I bought for my 9 month old who outgrew his infant seat. I did a lot of research to get the safest seat without spending $300. We have to use this as a rearfacing seat, and it fits great in my '08 Ford Fusion. The instructions for installing the seat using the LATCH system was confusing, but after getting it to the car and looking at the seat it was easy to figure out. It is a little difficult to tighten the strap, but it can be done. It is not difficult to transfer from vehicle to vehicle. My son loves this seat. He no longer crys when he has to be put in it. He also looks more comfortable when he falls asleep in it. I had no problem with the cratch strap as some have complained about. My only concern is the plastic foam under the seat; I'm not sure how long that'll last. I guess we'll see. The color is a darker gray on the outside than the picture shows, but it's a great color. Overall, I am very pleased with the seat. Hopefully this is the last seat we'll have to purchase for a while.
LOVE it!

I love this seat and so does my 6 mth old daughter. She did'nt like her carrier and was getting too heavy for it so we made the switch to this seat. She's so much happier because of it! The fact that the headrest comes off makes it not much bigger than the carrier and base and it works great in my Jetta. The only issue is it is a little difficult to install but, once it's in it doesn't budge. Great seat.

I really like this seat. It seems very comfortable for my 10 week old. The infant insert pillow is great! The recline position allows for sleeping without a kinked neck. I also love that the strap covers are so soft. It keeps my little guys from getting scratched on his neck. My only complaint is the installation. It is very secure once you get it in, but it is difficult to do in the rear facing position. The lockdown design is great, but it is located under the cover. The cover unsnaps so you can put the seatbelt through, then resnap it. If the seat is in really tight, I have a difficult time snapping it back on between the carseat and the seat. I usually just leave it unsnapped. In all, I am very pleased with my purchase.
The shipping was great, too. It cost $1.97, and I received it at my house in3 or 4 days! Faster than the expected shipping time.

The car seat is LOOKS really comfortable with all of it's cushions. But when you go to use it the buckle that goes between the childs legs is about 2 inches wide with hard plastic. It really cuts into my babies chubby thighs. I was very disappointed considering the price and quality claim. I'm sure it's safe, but I want comfort and safety for my child.

I bought this carseat and was not sure what to expect. My son was still very young, but quite big for his age. I was so afraid that a big carseat would make him sit up too much and his head would flop over, but this one works great. I had a little difficulty installing it, but that was because the anchor hooks in my van are buried in the seat. My son loves to take naps in this seat. I have had it for about 4 months and have not had any problems with it.
The one thing I could see being an issue is the size of the carseat. I have a van and the middle seats do not move so the seat in front of the carseat sits up a little straighter than I would like. But I have also found out that just about every convertible car seat is just as big, so it's not really anything you can avoid.
A really great carseat, my son loves it..

I purchased this car seat to replace my sons Cosco Scenera (he was growing out of it). When we got it my son sat in it right away and started smiling. I took the infant insert out (since my son is 2years old) and I put it in our car. Since I am a supporter of Extended Rear Facing, and without the headrest it only hold up to 20-something pounds so I had to put the headrest on. He loves rear facing and I love the fact the it can be in rear face mode(with the headrest on) until the kid is 35 lbs, then forward faces to 65 lbs or when the kid reaches 50 inches tall. It was so easy to install, and I love the fact of the built in lockoffs, instead of a locking clip (which is a pain). I absolutely love the fact that my son has plenty of growing room with this car seat, this seat will last him for a long while. The True Fit is such a great car seat, and it doesn't cost that much compared to Britax carseats. I have added a couple of pictures of my son in this seat.
Good Seat, Impossible Instructions

Comments about The First Years True Fit Convertible Car Seat Casino:
The instructions for this seat read like stereo instructions. They are almost impossible to understand.Other than that I have no complaints. I had to figure out how to adjust everything and set it up by myself because after reading through the instruction book 5 TIMES I still barely understood it. I'm not the only one my friends and husband agree. There is one thing I don't like. All the extra padding, if you use it the baby seems like she's riding on top of the seat, if you don't use it the padding seems insufficient. Right now I'm not using the padding it came with but a cushion that i had from my other daughter, and it's fine. Like the seat don't know how well it will hold up, will have to wait & see. Also, I didn't like th fact that my seats manufacture date was back in May 08, which means my seat is almost already 1 year old. And I've only just begun to use it.
