We got this as a gift!! So easy to set up, and we enjoyed every minute of it. My son had colic and reflux problems, it was such a life saver. He totally enjoyed being in it everyday! The toy bar could have been a little better designed but that is all... I just took the little toys of when he wwas older and he enjoyed it.

Not too exciting

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
We recieved this bouncer as a gift. We have two other bouncers for our twin infants and this is our least favorite. The seat is too upright, especially for tiny babies (mine were under 6# when they came home). The vibrations are nice, as is the music. Now that my twins are older, they prefer the bouncers with toys that are more interactive - ones that rattle or play music.
good and bad

I really like the fabric and neutral colors this seat is made out of and the hanging toys are entertaining and removable for play outside of seat. The two reclining options are also really handy. My only draw back is the head rest is not very supportive for my 6 week old and his head can go all over so you really need to watch closely.

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
This seat was a total life saver. My 8-month-old has long since outgrown it in length, but when he was a newborn, he wouldnt sleep in his crib. He slept in this. The vibration was incredibly comforting to him. The only complaint I had was the difficulty of removing the cover for the purpose of changing batteries. Once baby got long enough, he would turn the seat on and off just by kicking kicking his heals.
so so

I was really excited when I registered for this seat. I loved the neutral colors and the toy bar. I never had any of the issues with quality that some of the other reviewers have complained of. BUT except for the colors/theme there's really nothing too special about the seat. I'd recommend saving your money though and going for something a little cheaper. Not a bad seat... It's just nothing special.
Poor Design

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
My daughter is 5 months old & we have used this bouncey seat off & on for the last several months. Although she likes the animals, the design for this bouncey seat is poor. The push buttons are right at her feet & she is constantly kicking the music & vibration on/off. She gets mad when it goes off & then starts fussing - defeating the purpose of the seat. Save yourself the hassle & get a bouncey seat w/the controls where the child can't reach them.
Great Value!

My husband and I received this as a gift for our baby shower and absolutley love it! Set up was a breeze and we love that it is larger than most bouncers so that it will accomadate larger infants as well. The added headrest on the bouncer was also great and it seems much more comfortable than more expensive units. We've still got a week or so until the little one is here which is why I'm only rating it 4 stars since I'm unsure how much he'll enjoy it, but I know how much his momma likes it! All in all I would say that this bouncer is entertaining and a great value!
So handy!!

We got this 2nd hand from my sister, and our 12 week old has really warmed up to it in the last couple weeks. At first, we just used it to sit her in to transport her throughout the house while doing chores, and she wasn't very interested in the little animals.
Now she takes her daily catnaps in it, and loves playing with her "friends" during playtime. We never use the music, but the vibration is great and she rocks herself to sleep.
The babies loved it!

This bouncer had a great deal of use with our family! It was used with my nephew then with my daughter. They enjoyed the vibration of it and the light music. We actually gave it away to a friend who's getting a ton of use out of it! I'm expecting again so I'm going to be purchasing this bouncer from Babies R Us very soon!
Good buy!

Use it often with our new daughter. It does the trick, touchy controls, but no big issues either way. It's cute and comfy, she loves it, it definitely helps when you need your hands free for a few seconds. Only negative is having to take the cover off to change the batteries. It could be easier!
great product

I used this tons with both my kids. My toddler still tries to climb in and sit in it and it holds him fine. He also pulled the animals off to play with them on their own. It would be nice if the music was just a little louder but it works!
Baby loves it!

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
My newborn really liked this bouncer. It was the perfect size for him. Not too big and he was only 5 lbs 7 oz. The vibration and music was calming and he took many a nap in the chair. It was easy to rock up and down and sideways which helped him sleep when he was little. We called it his recliner. It was also very portable and great to carry from the living room into the kitchen and have him sit in it while we were eating dinner. When he got older (about 2 months) he started to notice the animals. We called them his friends. He would look at them and coo, smile, and laugh. I agree about the comments that the vibration button would get touchy, but it probably just needs some new batteries. The fabric is also very soft and comfy for baby.

This bouncer has been a lifesaver for our little one. It kept her at the right angle which was important for our daughter's reflux. It fit her as a newborn and was roomy enough to accomodate beyond 20 lbs. It doesn't sink to the floor like some models. We didn't use the toys very much- we removed it all together so she could look around- and we ended up attaching more interesting toys when we did use it.

I used this chair for at LEAST several hours a day for the first 6 months of my son's life. I sold it at a tag sale once he outgrew it and am now preggers with baby #2 and am thrilled to see they still make it! Those that disapprove of the automatic shut-off feature must love buying batteries! I loved that battery drain was never an issue (I don't believe I ever had to change the batteries, even with so much use), and I never considered pressing the button over and over to restart the music or vibration a hassle. The fact that this chair bounces with baby's movements, has a soothing vibration that my son loved, plays mellow music, is gender neutral and not gaudy, and is one of the least expensive on the market makes this a very easy choice for me.
Love it

We use this seat daily for my 4 month old. She loves it! We've had to replace the batteries a few times, but that's it. I love how well it washes too.
Too many design issues

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
I disliked the vibration/sound mechanism on the foot of the bouncer. My 3 month old hit her foot on it repeatedly, and hard enough to make her cry. Also the adjustable bar just sits there, there is no way to lock it in place. The overall design is not infant friendly and I would not suggest this bouncer.
My son likes it

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
My son likes it. We got a Boppy bouncy chair first but the toys hung too far down. We used the boppy seat for him to sleep in for the first few months and kept that one in our room and bought this one for downstairs and for him to play. He definitely likes it. It does feel a little flimsy in comparison.
Very dissapointed

The only postive thing about this product is the visual appeal. Other than that it is worthless. My baby is 8 weeks old and the music has now completely stopped working! When it did work you could not even hear it over the loud vibration. After already having to replace the batteries, the vibration is still not working properly and shuts off way to soon! I am very dissapointed in this product! Not worth the money!
Ok for the price

My son enjoys the bouncer still at 3 months, however, my husband and i have some complaints about it. The vibration button gets touchy once the batteries start to drain (you have to mess with it to get it to start),also the sound barely works while the vibration feature is on.
8-week old likes it
01/08/2010 by Cassie, CA,
Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
Our 8-week old likes the bouncer. Yeah, the toys are too far away to bat or touch, but she likes looking at them and gets excited, which makes her wiggle, which makes the toys shake around, which makes her more interested. We only use the vibrate and music sometimes, but after almost two months nothing has broken. The toy bar attached and detaches very easily, but I've had no problems with baby almost getting hit by it. Just take it off if you're putting her in or taking her out of the bouncer. It was too big for her when we first brought her home from the hospital, but in a few weeks she grew into it.
Quit working in 2 months

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
The bouncer is really cute however the music stopped working within the first few weeks and the vibration only works sometimes if the button is pressed "just so." I'm guessing soon it will stop working completely. The seat removes easily and washes nicely in the washer and dryer. The toys are too far away for my son to reach so at four months old he becomes bored in the seat rather quickly. When the music did work it sounded terrible.
Average quality for the money

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
I bought this bouncer before my baby was born. Unfortunately, he ended up being premature and even when he came home around 5 pounds, this was not at all appropriate for his size. After a couple of months, he was able to use it. The music stopped working very quickly and the vibration mode turned off much too quickly. The toy bar does come off, which is what I did for the most part since my son had no interest in the boring toys that hung down. The last straw was when my two older children were goofing around and my daughter, who weighs about 50 pounds, fell on it. It bent the frame so bad that my baby would slide over while sitting in it. I then tried to very carefully bend it back and the entire metal tubing snapped in half!! So much for that seat, as I had to throw the thing in the trash. Thus, I am online shopping for a new one, and I would not repurchase this one again. This seat would be ok for a baby that tends to prefer less stimulation. My son loves hanging toys and blinking lights, so this was simply too boring. Also, around six months old he learned about the buttons and would try to sit up to turn them on himself. This became a HUGE problem because he would make the seat off balance by leaning forward so much, even though he was strapped in.
not so great

This really wasn't worth the money. The design is cute but that's the best thing it has going for it.
The automatic shut off of the sound and vibrate are very frustrating. I have to constantly go back and turn it on again. The music is too quiet even on it's loudest setting.
The toy bar falls off each time it is moved and almost hit my newborn in the face. After that I refuse to use it. The toys are pretty boring so my daughter isn't missing out on much.
I should have returned this.

my son is 5 months old and still loves sitting in this bouncer. The vibrations stop working because we use it so much, just replace the batteries. It is still working and we have used it daily for months! The price was great, and baby is happy. The seat is also machine washable and comes out great if spit up happens!
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

UNFORTUNATELY I HAD THROWN AWAY THE BOX IT CAME IN WHEN I GOT TO USE IT, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE RETURNED IT. THE MUSIC NEVER PLAYED! THE TOY BAR COMES OFF SO EASILY. THE CONTROLS ARE AT BABY'S FEET-BAD IDEA. THE COVER IS WASHABLE BUT ALREADY SO TAUT I KNOW IT WON'T SURVIVE MANY WASHES. WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE PLACING IT ON MY REGISTRY.

This was the cutest bouncer I had seen so I got it for my son. It broke after the first week of using it. I have contacted Sassy each time it broke and so far they have sent me 3 new motors for the bouncer. Well it broke again and I broke down and bought a different bouncer. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
My twins love these bouncers!

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
I would definitely say a bouncer seat like this is a must-have, whether you choose this one or another. We chose this because of the adorable Zanzibar pattern and cute little animals that hang down. Our twins sit in these every day and I don't know what I'd do without them! The covers are easy to slip off and machine wash. They are a little tricky to get back on, but it's not too bad. I like how the toy bar goes off and on easily. Also, the animals are hanging by Velcro and can be easily removed and replaced with other small toys. Babies can just be set in these seats, but it's best to buckle them in if they will be there long so they don't slide down. My boys kick the buttons and turn the vibrations and music off and on, which they seem to enjoy. Sometimes it's annoying how the buttons always get bumped accidentally - it might be better if they were positioned somewhere else. The bottom line is that these cute seats have just the right amount of bounce and provide hours of entertainment. They are great for naps, bottle feedings, photos, and playing. Our boys are 3 months old and love these bouncers.
He likes it

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
My LO likes this but I think it could be better. It's stable enough, which is good! The toy bar is very bland though. I usually have to add things to it - things that make noise and have lights! It is easy to move around the house. For the price, it's good.
Vibration turns off

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
I agree with the others. This bouncer is very annoying as the vibration doesn't stay on and the baby would wake up after it turns off. Also the music broke and eventually the vibrations broke also. its very nice to look at but not practical.

I put my son in his bouncer the day we came from the hospital and he loves it. It was the best gift that came from our shower and its so useful. I put him in it when im taking a shower or he's fussy and the vibrations/music put him at ease. Plus the theme is really cute!
Good bouncer

Comments about Zanzibar Bouncer:
Kyle loved this bouncer. He loved to kick and bounce like crazy. I would worry that the controls being at the feet would hurt his feet when he kicked but it didn't seem to bother him. When he reached 5 months he would start pulling himself forward to where he could flip over so I had to stop use but if it wasn't for that I would still be using it. It was a godsend when I would need to do something but he would want to be near me. I could place him in it and go about my business.
