The 2.5-3 year olds in my classroom love this sorting toy. Great fine motor and cognitive fun for all. My younger 2's do need some hands on and cognitive assistance, but, with help, eventually get the process.

  • Good Sorting Pie for Preschooler

This toy is well made plastic containing colorful 60 fruit pieces & with 2 jumbo tweezers which is ideal to hold & learn for little kids. When opened from the package it is very heavy. It is durable plastic pie containing 60 fruits which include apples, bananas, grapes, oranges, apricots, plums, berries in different colors & covers with lid. The pie crust has removable dividers. All the counters fits exactly inside the pie & the lids covers for easy storage which is cool as the fruit pieces won't be everywhere & can stay intact. The lid doesn't lock on but just stays on the pie. This toy teaches early number skills, fine motor skills & pincher grasp when child uses tweezers. The toy comes with activity guide & 3 set of cards double side to slip into bottom of the pan. This is really good to make lot combinations of play. My preschooler loves sorting pie and different activities to play with this. To keep things organized top crust becomes a bowl to conveniently store counters & also as lid to cover the fruit pieces inside pie. I love this toy as my child enjoys playing sorting as per color of fruits & by using the activity card & also plays like pie baking. The fruit pieces are small & so not for kids under 3 age due to risk of choking. I would definitely recommend this.

Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie is a perfect toy that teaches and reinforces your young children in early math concepts like number skills and attributes, in fine motor skills, in practicing basic things and in a little more because it also includes colors and fruit shapes. The design is an innovative durable plastic fruit pie of a diameter of around 8.50 inches or 22 centimeters with a removable divider that stores and includes 60 counters that came in five different colors: red, yellow, orange, green and blue, and seven fruits apples, bananas, grapes, oranges, grapefruits, apricots and plums. It also comes with two sets of jumbo tweezers that help students reinforce or practice fine motor skills. The depressions on the tweezers help guide little hands into the proper grip technique, developing motor skills that will be important for holding and manipulating a pencil. Includes an activity guide and three sorting cards that slip into the bottom of the pan that provides supportive visual clues to identify, sort & classify the fruits by attribute. With this interesting learning toy kids from 4 years and up could play it, is not recommended for young children because it has small pieces that can cause choking. They could play alone or with more girls and boys, indoor or outdoor, in any place, avoiding that cards get wet because it can damage or destroy them. The top crust becomes a bowl to conveniently hold counters and store the toy for later use so you can keep pieces organized

  • EDUCATIONAL GREAT OT & FUN-DURABLE QTY product

The sorting pie is quite a bit larger than I expected (about 12" in diameter and 3" deep). There are many more ways to sort than I expected as well. For example there are apples, plums, peaches (same mold different colors) and raspberries, grapes (same mold different colors) lemons, oranges...well you get the idea. There are five different sections to the pie and different cards you can position under the sections to "guide" on how to sort (type of fruit, color, shape, etc). To play we dumped the fruit into the "upper crust" or lid of the pie. Then we chose the method of sorting and placed the card under the section divider. The set comes with two pincers. The pincers have great tension for strengthening muscles. My nine year old has issues with his grip and this was a good exerciser for him. I CANNOT STRESS HOW WELL MADE this product is. Every item in it has a great weight and durability. This would've excellent in any PT OT Dr office hospital or classroom!

I DO FIND IT A LITTLE HIGH FOR THE PRICE FOR THIS LEARNING TOY PRODUCT. BUT OVERALL I DO RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE TO GIVE THEIR CHILD AN EARLY LEARNING JUMP START. AND WHEN YOUR CHILD OUT GROWS THIS LEARNING PRODUCT TOY YOU CAN PASS IT ON TO SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD AND HELP THEM GET AND EARLY EDUCATIONAL JUMP START AS WELL TOO. I FIND THE PLASTIC TO THIS LEARNING TOY PRODUCT TO BE DURABLE AS WELL, I DON'T FIND IT TO BE A LIGHT PLASTIC IT WILL SURELY LAST THIS PRODUCT.

  • 3 year old loves it!
    5 stars

This pie is a wonderful toy and learning tool all in one. My granddaughter Kate gives it 5 stars! Her attention span is pretty limited, but this pie has kept it for quite awhile from the very first time! That by itself says a lot. She bakes a pie everyday! It's made just for her little hands to work with. I love that it won't get old and useless. She is only 3 and sees it as a fruit pie that she's baking in her kitchen, and feeding to her baby dolls. Aside from the pretend role play experience she gets out of it, she's also learning about fruits, colors, sorting, dexterity, sharing, game play and much more. Later she will move on into developing her mathematical skills. This pie is very durable and cute. I love the way everything can all stay in the pie when it's cleanup time. It has 60 pieces of fruit in 5 colors. The fruit is also very well made, you can tell by the feel of it. It's not lightweight cheap thin plastic junk that splits and dents. It will make it for the long haul. The fruit can be sorted into the pie "slices" by type of fruit, color, or specific amount. The tweezers are just the right size for small hands. And they're a great tool for strengthening hand and finger movements. There are three sorting cards (pie bottoms) that provide a variety of ways to play and learn. Both sides of each card can be used. This "toy" will help my Kate with understanding math as she grows. And gosh, I really love that it has no noise distractions! It doesn't ring, ding, sing or scream! I give my highest recommendation for this product!

  • Great for teaching

This is really good if u have kids that are learning colors and how to count and even message. It's even good for math. I have a 4 year old that's going to be going into kindergarten this coming up school year and she loves to cont and sort them and I will ask her colors everything is and she will tell me and i will ask her how many teams there are is serten colors and she tells me. I even have a 7 year old that is in 2 nd grad and she is learning all kids of math so it's good for her to use it to sort and messier and Learn the pie part of math. If u have a child U need to teach how to grip the tongs are good for that and shapes and even texted. My sister inlow is going get one because she runs a daycare and is always looking for stuff to teacher her little kids that she has preschool school stuff. When my kids are not using it for learning they take it and pretend to cut the pie and feed everyone or they will take the fruit like oranges and apples and grapes and bananas out and use it to cook in there little toy cooking stuff they have. Well I would be telling everyone that this is a great product for kids to Learn with for kids it's fun with its Brit colors and shaps.

  • Ok, but gets boring
    2 stars

I received this product as a part of the Walmart Spark Review program. I let my grandkids play with this over the holidays, and it does have some learning potential. It does get repetitive very fast. You have all the different fruits and colors to sort, but after you sort them , that is about all there to it. It does help with color recognition and shape recognition. the pieces are easy for little children to handle but my grandkids got bored with it very fast. It has a lot of little pieces, so if you have smaller children this is really not a good product. They could end up chocking on some of the pieces. I like the idea of the crust holding the fruit as they count and sort, but this is about the only thing I did like. I would not recommend this to anyone , as it does get boring fast.

  • Awesome game for toddlers!
    5 stars

Wow! I was apprehensive at first about seeing this game online, but once I got it in I was all wrong. It's an awesome game for your little one and even the older ones! The recommended age for this game is 3+; however, I wanted to see if a child a little bit younger would like it. Of course he was supervised because of the smaller pieces, but at 2 years old you supervise them anyway. There are a few different games you can play with this pie. You can sort by colors, numbers, shapes, and fruit type. The blue bottom part of the pie disconnects from the part that divides the pie and then you can place whichever card type you want on it. It comes with 3 cards that have different sorting options on both sides. Then you just slide the divider over the pie. We placed all the colored fruits in the top of the pie to hold them while we played the game. It comes with 2 sturdy little clampers that you can use to pick up the colored fruits. I tested these out on children ages 2, 5, 7, 8, and 9. None of them had any trouble using the grippers. After playing the color game with the 2 year old about 3 times he knew what he was supposed to do. It was very exciting to see. He was so proud when we would all clap because he got them right. The other kids who played with him had just as much fun! I highly recommend this game. It's fun, it's educational, and so rewarding for the kids and parents when they do a good job!

  • Excellent Learning Tool Trust a Teacher
    5 stars

This Super Sorter Pie is an excellent learning tool. I was a teacher for 23 years and it helps with many sorting tasks, eye – hand coordination, small motor skills, and early math skills needed for many learning activities. The fruit counters are very well made. They are much larger than expected. This makes it much easier for small hands to handle. They are easy to grip because they are a rubber material and not slick plastic. I was also impressed with the size of the 2 Jumbo tweezers. They are very large and the gripping area is wide and easy to grab the fruits with. When I looked at it on the website it looked like the wheels just lay to the side, but I loved that each wheel goes in the bottom of the pie pan and then the separator goes on the top to hold it in place. The child is able to see exactly what to put in each portion. Each wheel has 2 sides for a variety of ways to sort their pie pieces. {By 1-10 numbers, colors of fruits, actual types of fruits, and fruits by the shape and no color}. Then they can put the large lid on top to keep the wheels, fruits, and tweezers in for good storage. This would be excellent for learning centers at preschools, kindergarten and even first grade. I would DEFINITELY recommend this product.

The Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie is wonderful. I love this product. It is very well made and colorful. The Pie holds everything inside, and it is very realistic looking. My 4 year old daughter has played with this every day since it came in the mail. We have played the different counting and sorting games. There are discs that come with the pie that go in the bottom of the pie pan which guide the child to what they should be sorting into the different sections of the pie. There are number discs, and color discs and fruit discs. The pieces are so well made and the lid of the pie clicks in place to hold the tongs and all the fruit pieces inside. My daughter also loves to use the pie and the different fruit pieces in her play kitchen. There are so many counting and match activities you can do with this. For younger children you can just focus on the concepts of sorting items by type or by color. You could even do timed races to see who can sort the fastest. With older children you can do addition and subtraction with the pie pieces too. All around a really well made and useful product.

I was kind of hesitant to get this but I am glad I did. I really didn't think my nieces and nephews would like this but they do. It kept them entertained for hours. I was also worried about the small pieces that comes with this, but as long as I was in there with them or another adult then it is ok. They would make different kinds of fruit pies and count out how many pieces of each fruit they were allowed to have to play eat and they also had to really concentrate when they were using the tweezers to pick up each piece of fruit. It was really an intense look on their face as they tried to get a piece of fruit on their tweezers without it falling out of it, (and funny) as we watched them enjoying themselves having fun and learning and sharing with each other, as they got into their own little world of this super sorting pie. It comes with a 2 piece pie shell, (top and bottom pie shell), 60 fruit pieces, 3 double sided activity cards, that the kids can get to do different activities and make up their own activities as they play pretend,) and 2 jumbo tweezers. It is very colorful and bright and I definitely would recommend this to any parents, grand parents or guardians, aunts or uncles, whoever has small children ages 3 and up. This is a great learning tool for small children that has not started pre-k school to get them prepared for school or this would be great for pre-k teachers for their classes and this is a great products for both a boy and girl.

This game is so cute and colorful. Me and my kids had a blast playing it. At first look I thought it would be boring but it wasn't. We made it a little more competitive and started timing each other. We ended up playing for over and hour. The game was easy to follow for my five and ten year old and it promotes counting also while being fun. It's easy to store and put up out of the way so that was a big plus. I would definitely recommend this.

  • Lots of small pieces
    5 stars

    1/3/2015 by KarlysMom

I thought this looked very much like a real pie when I opened it. I would definitely keep it away from small kids due to all the small pieces of fruit. The pieces all fit neatly back into the pie when putting it away. My daughter had so much fun with this pie. We played with it as a family also and actually had some fun. The paper pieces that cone with it are kinda flimsy and my daughter tore them already. I would recommend this to small children to help them learn colors and counting. My niece has autism and she plays it to use the tweezers provided to help strengthen her hands. They were a little harder for me to use as an adult because they ate so big. Overall a great idea and wonderful game for the whole family.

  • Love this product!

I work with small children...toddlers through pre school and they all love this product! The "fruit" pieces are small enough for little hands and durable enough for the older kids. I love that the pieces are textured which helps my kids with sensory issues. This product is great because you can grade it either up or down...so everyone gets a chance to play with it. One of my constant goals with my kids is sorting of shapes and colors so this hits that goal every time! The bright colors and simplicity of the game attracts and encourages the kids to want to play. The tweezers add a fine motor component that can't be beat and the kids use their imagination on what they are "baking"! Lots of fun! I personally love the packaging...the fruit, sorting discs and pie are all enclosed and the box that it comes in is extremely sturdy. Five stars from me!!

  • Sorting is FUN!
    5 stars

    1/2/2015 by alabamabutterfly55

When I first opened the box, the sight of a lovely golden pie was such a delight! I do love pie so this toy appealed to me from the start. The construction of the pie itself is unique. It comes apart to allow you to change sorting activity cards. The three double-sided sorting cards are varied and will entice a young child to play with the pie over and over again. One of the cards is divided into five colored fruit shapes to match with the different colored fruits. Another card has numbers to match and the last card uses fruit shapes and colors to sort. There is only one thing about the cards that concerns me and that is the purple color of the fruits and the purple color of the cards are not the same purple. That could be very confusing for a young child. The other colors of the card are very close to the matching fruit colors. The fruits are just so cute! There are ten fruits divided into five vivid colors which are red, yellow, green, orange, and purple. The nectarine/peach and the orange look so much alike that I didn't notice the difference at first glance. Again, this could be confusing for a young child. The fruits include bananas (green and yellow), apples (red and green), plums, grapes (red and purple), lemons, oranges, and nectarines/peaches. Two large plastic tweezers are included to help a child sort the fruits into the pie. They are rigid and could be difficult for small hands to handle but the fruits can be sorted by hand without using the tweezers. The instructions include other sorting activities that will help you keep children engaged in meaningful play time.

  • Fun way to learn about colors and shapes
    5 stars

    1/2/2015 by GreenTree

This is a great tool for teaching colors, shapes, texture, and counting! It is well made. I expect it will last for many years to come. The colors are vibrant. The activity cards are sturdy. The pieces of fruit are just the right size. I thought the tweezers might be hard for little hands to squeeze, but my 4 year old niece had no problem. I will be bringing this to school to add to my free time center as I teach computer skills and have some students who don't like playing computer games during 'free time.' It comes with activity cards that go under the slices (insert tray) that show what to match. The activity cards show fruit by colors, same fruit, just plain colors, shape of fruit with no color, numbers 1 - 5 on one side and 6 - 10 on the other side. They can create patterns on their desk by color or shape. They can count them, do addition, subtraction and word problems. And of course, they can just play like they are making a pie! I don't have any negatives about this product. I am so excited to be able to use it at school, and then bring it home on the weekends that my 6 yr old granddaughter will be here. I also love that the pie contains all the pieces for easy storage.

  • Learning The Basics
    5 stars

    1/2/2015 by BossLady87401

This pie is great for sorting and teaching basic math concepts to kindergarten students. This product serves as a great introduction to specific skills such as sorting, counting, basic math, matching, colors, patterning, addition and subtraction and dexterity. Kids can use the tweezers to sort by color, by type or to just "serve" the fruits. With some assistance it is also a great counting manipulative and has the versatility for the sorting and counting to grow in complexity throughout the preschool and kindergarten years. The tweezers are also excellent for fine motor-skill manipulative and development. I Fantastic way to help kiddos develop greater attention, concentration, and focus. It works well with creative thinking process as to pretend to have a bakery and bake pies with chosen fruit or the customer (mom, dad, siblings). I cannot stress enough the importance of supervision since the pieces are small.
